I had just started riding in earnest when this came out. After 6 years in the Army and various attempts at selling appliances and cars, I went back to school. I convinced my wife we could save money if I commuted to college on a 250cc motorcycle, which I did. But in the process I got The Itch (Disease, Habit, Yearning, whatever). I subscribed to all the mainline magazines including Motorcyclist and it was articles like this that had me dreaming. Thanks, Artie, for posting this. Loved the ads from that period, too.

Ummm, that's been in the tech docs & articles area since Thu Jan 19, 2006 7:14 pm PST. It really is worth it to poke around the forum and read what's been here for many years. Just sayin'.

These were great bikes when they came out. You were the King of the Road if you had one.

Good times, good memories, good motorcycles Very Happy

Of note when they talk about the current production class lap record at Willow Springs, held by Whitney Blakesley in 1981, recently Whitney made a return to the track after an absence of 35 years, and was featured in Roadracing World magazine making a return to Willow Springs on a Yamaha R6 at 70 plus years of age, good for him Very Happy

Love these old mags of the latest and greatest road tests and reports
Motorcycling in the 70s was so exiting, every year better and faster bikes ,more features,on and on
the racing scene was so vibrant, Camel Pro Series etc.
Triumph Yamaha Honda Suzuki Kawi factory teams
AMA GNC #1 plate was combo of dirt track and road racing the stars of the day did both
Cycle News printed version for east coast guys was always 1-2 weeks old when the hit my mail box, only way then to keep up on racing results and stories,
so happy to be a part of it
Love to see stories of BITD
who’s heard
“the older I get the faster I was”

Hello Artie, like gene pointed out , most all of the old “F” bike magazine tests are in the technical documents on this site, I recommend you dive in and enjoy them!

I suggest everyone should browse the Technical Documents...... at least. Its not that many posts. There are sales brochures and other magazine write-ups there. Worth just browsing rather than searching.
