I wore this lid when I had the Honda Interceptor, circa 1984, Freddie Spencer edition. It was found under some boxes when doing some winter clean up, still in original bag and box. As pic # three shows the extent of deterioration of the soft foam in the liner. Peculiarly it is a size small and fits loosely while my more recent helmets fit me in size large.

I did a quick Google search and apparently there are kits to rebuild the liners of helmets, even ones made by Arai. Of course, if the hard part has been compromised or had deteriorated, then don't do it. But, it may be worth the try. The safe thing, though, is to convert your old helmet into a lamp or flower pot or cookie jar.

That helmet is way past it's expiration date, as smurdoch said it's for show only.
