Ive said it before, I hate riding in the rain. HATE. IT.
So, last weekend, a buddy of mine gets the bright idea to ride to Mammoth from SoCal. We left Friday morning. Rode like drunken Indians all the way there. Rarely less than 85 mph up the 395. Not a hairy ride, but we were cruising either.
Got there, it was beautiful. Rode Saturday from Mammoth up 395 to Mono lake, continued up 395 to A wide spot called Bridgeport. I was a really nice ride. We came back down the 395 to the 158 and went around the June lake loop and back. Gorgeous. Back the 395 to Mammoth, about a 90 mile loop. It was a nice day right. Had a nice dinner etc..woke up Sunday morning to rain. A lot of rain. I hate the rain. I brought rain gear..doesnt matter. Still hate it.
So, our 78 degree temps went to 40 and rain. Bike sitting over night in the rain washed some shit out of the filter into the carb. I lost cylinder #4 until about 80mph. So, I rode home, in at least 100 miles of rain, and hail, on three cylinders, unless we were pushing 80, on wet highways.
Got the carbs cleared, but man. I really hate the rain. |

Sounds like you are fully certified for the spring/fall NE ride. The only difference is pushing 80 on the back roads, we don't see many highways. |

Goose is right. Sounds like you're all set for the NE rides. Good thing is that somebody always has a big bottle of whiskey back at the motel to help settle the shivers while you're putting on dry clothes. |
