Well after being an F'er for over 35 years, I decided to part ways with one of the passions of my life. Tough call, but it has been an enjoyable adventure and I want to keep it that way. So what does an F'er do with all his F'ing stuff? Well you have a F'ing garage sale!

I figured I would just put it all in my driveway and someone would surely drive by and want it?

Da Beast, Da Slayer and a couple of donor bikes.
Image

Lots of wheels, swing arms forks, headers etc
Image

A complete Hondaline fairing.
Image

Lots and lots of parts. A bunch of rearsets. Hey is that a set of CB1100R rearsets? Wombats too?? Is that a brand new 1982/83 CB1100R windscreen in that box???
Image

1123cc with Wisceo pistons, megacam cams, APE ported head, big valves
Image

1123cc JPE pistons, megacam cams, Carrillo rods, lightened crank, head done by Mike Velasco
Image

Lots of trick engine parts.
Image

A few donor motors
Image

I knew someone would come by soon. Who could pass buy a bunch of F'ing parts. Hey is that a Vince & Hyde racing jersey he is wearing?
Image

Jim decided to buy it all! He seems happy but his wallet is F'ing lighter!
Image

It has been great guys! Keep the passion for these fine machines alive. You guys are taking F's to places never gone before...

It's a shame to see you go, Martin. That silver OMT engined monster is what got me so interested in motorcycles again.

What an amazing collection you have passed along to Jim. Couldn't have gone to a more deserving F'er. I hope to be able to watch him turn it all into some more amazing bikes.

Enjoy retirement. We'll all miss your vision and obvious skills.

Cheers from Toronto.

I will still hang here from time to time but will probably be F'less. I think Jim will put them to good use which helps me feel better about the sell. I'm just glad all my hoarding over the years went to someone who can use it all!

Actually there is a lot left because Jim could not get it all in his big van and trailer. By tomorrow I will be totally F'less though...

Dang it. Martin beat me to the post. I'll be heading back up tomorrow a s soon as I can find a place for all this stuff and get The van and trailer unloaded. It was cool to finally meet Martin after reading and watching what he was doing on his bikes.

This was a business deal as I'm not rich enough to horde all of this.
If you see something that you need or want? Its all pretty much for sale. I'll try to keep DaBeast but this extended my bank account to the limit.
Peace Jim

Sorry to see you go, man. You've been a staple on this forum for a very long time. It's gonna be kinda weird not seeing your posts.
Good luck with your post-F endeavors.

Great to meet you too Jim. You are truly a great F'er! I just wish there were fabricators like you back in the day when I first got F'ing hooked on these bikes. I had to do it mostly myself and I'm not nearly as good as you are at this.

Who knows, after you do your magic to the beast, maybe I will just buy it back from you Cool

See you in a few!

Thanks Bruce. Although I have been on this site since day one, I have not been real active for several years. Before this site, we had a Yahoo users group. Thanks to the internet, all of us F'ers were able to find each other and share our passion and knowledge. What was so very intriguing was that there were a lot more of us than any of us realized! The F bikes were such great bikes in their day and many of us had discovered this. What was also amazing was how many of us had independently made discoveries on how to make them better bikes, and when the internet allowed us to share, the knowledge exploded exponentially. Looking at this site now, and the discoveries now being shared, it puts me in awe of what has been created here. This site is really something special, I really don't think there is another motorcycle site quite like it, but then there is really not another bike quite like the F is there...

I fully understand Martin.. We want to travel more and I'll have less time and energy to keep up with my Honda obsession hobby. So maybe in the spring I'll host my own version of a HUGE F'ing (CBX) garage sale too.

I hope you check in from time to time Martin. As griz said I have learned alot and used many of your ideas (my track bike motor is on my copy of your engine table as I type this). Good luck dude!

And Larry, you better let me know about any "garage sales" you have! We still need to talk about some R bodywork and a 900 trans..........

Let me Remanence...

My first F was a 1980 CB750F but then I just had to buy the CB900F when it came out in 81.
Image

I rode this bike all over the Pacific Northwest for thousands of miles. Man I was a skinny fart back then...
Image

I lost the faith and bought a ceptor in 83 but my good friend Bob (blainethemono) bought my 900.
Image

I did not buy another F until the 90s and bought my first CB1100F. The bike I should have bought back in 83!
Image

Then I started a family and got out of street biking for a while. Then I bought my second CB1100F and turned it into a long distance machine. Ole Blue.
Image

Was a great road machine!
Image

Then I built this rat bike for fun. Yes pods but it was a good runner!
Image

Then I built this 81 CB900F
Image

Then I built this 81 CB900F with Hondaline.
Image

Then I built this 82 CB900F.
Image

Then I built this Canadian 83 CB1100F. Man this was a nice F!.
Image

Then on one of the luckiest days in my life, I came across Malcolm Forbes 83 CB1100R. It was being stored under a tarp in an alley in NYC. This is the first picture the guy sent to me. It was the only motorcycle he had ever owned. He fell over at a stop sign and broke a mirror. He decided not to ride it anymore. Good thing!
Image

When I got it home in my garage. I just stood there and stared at it for a couple of days. I could not believe I had actually captured one!
Image

It was a fine bike. If you have ever ridden one you would know what I mean!
Image

Man I miss this bike!
Image

Then I woke up one morning and found this picture on ebay. A 1981 CB900F with only 2K miles. It also had an 1125cc motor built by some guy named Kaz Yoshima. Yeah right I said. Gave the guy a call and found out it was the only bike he had ever owned. He bought it new and a few weeks later his friend bought a new GS1100. The big Suzuki embarrassed him. He had read an article about a company called OMT (ontario moto tech) that fixed up these F engines to go faster. He sent his engine off and got the full meal deal. The first time he road the bike with the new engine it scared the hell out of him and he parked it. It had been stored ever since. Good thing! He said it did not run right the last time he started it. A friend had tried to start it and tune it up but was not able to get it to run right. We agreed on a price and I had it shipped to me. I was crossing my fingers...
Image

When I got it home, I did not even try to start it and decided I better just clean the carbs. The carbs were already very clean but one of the floats was upside down! What are friends for! Put the carbs back on, added some fuel, hit the starter, and bam! She purred like a kitten that just got through eating its young and the neighbors dog! Man what a machine this bike is!
Then I turned it into this.
Image

Times were tough back in those days. Hmm which bike should I ride today?
Image

Image

Then I came across this bike (darn ebay anyway). A young man had bought this from a guy named Tryg Westby. He decided it was too much bike for him (who are these guys!!!). I bought it and had it shipped to me. After talking to Tryg I found out the bike's race history. It was known as Dirty Mary back in the day. It was a great bike!
Image

Image

I had corresponded with Howard Abel for many years. He was building and racing F bikes when most of us were simply trying to figure out how to sync carbs.
Image

He had recently built this bike.
Image

One day he sent me a note and wanted to know if I wanted to buy it! I was not in a position to buy it at the time (an unlucky day and long story) but my friend Bob was. We hauled it up from the bay area. Bob and I rode it for several years and then I ended up buying it from Bob and turned it into this. Da Beast!
Image

Over the years I met this guy. Mike Velasco.
Image

He liked our bikes.
Image

A good friend to have
Image

He talked me into building this monster motor
Image

Which was going to go into this.
Image

Which is suppose to look like this. Da Slayer!
Image

It's been a long and glorious ride!

Wow, what a great history of bikes that you built, and so many great pictures to go with the story. It must be a bit tough to let them all go, especially since you so lovingly built and cared for them. Kudos to you for such an astounding body of work. You have brought the F's to a higher level!

Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. I just realized that this is the first time since I was 10 years old that I did not own at least one motorcycle! Many of those years it was just a dirt bike but I've always had a least one running bike...

It's a combination of a lot of things that are hard to explain. Like I said above, it has been a long and glorious ride and I will just add I want to keep it that way. Just one too many I know that can't say that anymore. I think of it as not the end of something but more as the start of something else.

I will miss the special moments...

when I met and spoke to Jim at Spa last weekend he said he was about to purchase a few special parts on his return to the USA, I would never have guessed it would have been your whole collection

It seems to me that Martins decision was a very personal one, and obviously a very tough one, but for him at this moment in time, the right one. Therefore I wish Brother Martin all the F'ing best in his new endeavors F'less....We have been truly blessed to have had him here for as long as we did, and his contributions to what we all love and enjoy are well respected and appreciated. Maybe he will F'ing return some day. For now? I wish you all the F'ing best Brother Martin in your new endeavors.

Sometimes F'ing changes are necessary....anyone who hoarded (er I mean collected) as much F'ing stuff as you did can never be considered a bad F'er.

Not at all. If you're retired, or about to retire and want to see the country, you can have a blast doing it in a motor home. I would love to have a couple months off and drive from the east coast to the west, and back, seeing everything worth seeing along the way. And camping is a lot of fun in an RV. What good is camping if you don't have AC and a microwave? Seriously, you will REALLY enjoy it if you get one. If and when you do, make sure to post lots of pictures.
