I just bought an 82 cb900f super sport that came without side panels. It was painted with a pretty nasty sparkley blue laquer, someone had a vision but not the means. I stripped the blue and went for a quickie flat black with some john deere blitz black in a can. Gave the motor and the forks a couple shots of black engine enamel to make it look presentable. The only thing I am missing are the side panels and I can't find anyone willing to come off of them without asking for your soul. Does anyone know where I can find some aftermarkets or a place where I can buy the originals for less than 70 or 80 bucks a piece?

P.S. I'm planning on taking the bike apart after the summer to give it a proper paint job. Planning on sticking with the original honda colors (black, red and white) but a very untraditional paint job. Nothing fancy, just different. Streamlined and symetrical. I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Chris

Check out the for sale forum, side panels come up all the time at reasonable prices. Or post a wanted ad there.

Not sure you can post pics from FB to here, many of us use Photobucket or Image Shack. You'll find a set of sidecovers soon, hang in there.

Ride safely.

I got mine from these guys. Great quality. Doesn't cost much more than what some people are asking for used cracked panels.

Gosh....I wonder how good/bad these are....I would love to have a spare set for the CBX
in satin black to swap out every once in a while.....

Although side covers pop up all of the time....and even cracked ones can be repaired rather easily....

Post a "WTB" in the For sale forum and somebody will hit you up......there are quite a few members here with arsenals of parts........

If you buy the L.P.M pieces...post us on the quality....... Wink

Good Luck,
jeffrey

Hey Jebby, They look much nicer then the Maier Brand aftermarket side panels. These have the mounting lugs on them & the Maier brand doesn't. The guy that posted them got a set & he said they were Quality.

If I needed a set I would go with them. Stock ones are just to pricey & you never know if they have a crack already starting on the lugs, that can't be seen very well.

See Ya, JJAM

The quality on the LPM panels is great. They matched my old panels dimensionally and the mounting lugs are solid and look WAY less likely to break off than the originals. The original lugs are attached to the panel with that weak "+" looking shape. I really need to take some pics and post them to the forum. After paying for shipping my total came out to about $120 which isn't exactly cheap. It took a long time for them to make it through customs. Over a month! After they showed up and I saw how much better they were than stock I decided they were worth the price.
