I've been thinking about taking an advanced riding course and saw this one below advertised at our local community college for $295. Has anyone here taken this course or something like it? Might be fun. Here's the link.
Jim
Total Control - Advanced Riding Clinic
Course based on Lee Parks’ best selling book Total Control, High Performance Street Riding Techniques.
In today’s age of high-horsepower super bikes, large-displacement cruisers and super-heavy-weight touring bikes, riding skills are more important than ever for safe, fun motorcycling. Cornering technique is the primary focus of the Total Control ARC. Individual skills include corner entry, line selection, body position and corner exit. There are slightly different versions of these depending on the type of bike ridden, but all follow the same philosophical principles that are taught in the course. Throttle control and throttle/brake transitions are covered in great detail. Suspension setup and the mental aspects of riding are covered. Additionally, super-tight, low-speed, “parking lot” turns are taught. This course is taught in a controlled parking lot environment.
Pre-requisites: All students must provide their own bikes and have at least one year of riding experience. For students with less than two years of experience, it is advised (though not required) that they have completed an MSF ERC (Skills Practice or Skills Plus). Protective gear is required for all students, which includes a DOT-approved helmet (full-face recommended), motorcycle jacket and motorcycle pants, gloves and boots that cover the ankles. Jeans and fingerless gloves are not allowed, but Kevlar jeans will be accepted.

I took a similar course 20 years ago, went through the beginner, intermediate and advanced courses, learned alot, had tons of fun, and I'm sure the knowledge and skills saved my life at least once. Don't think I had kevlar jeans back then, and wouldn't have been caught dead in leather pants.
Go for it! |

It's one of the best investments you can ever make as a
motorcyclist.
