Is it just me or do the left side covers sell for alot more than the right side? Is there a group of people who steal only the left side? Or did Honda skimp on the material used during manufacturing which causes the left side to disintegrate?
Should I be buying all of the left side covers that appear on eBay? |

You know I seem to recall that the left side is more prone to blwoing off the bike than the right side.
Yeah and I almost forgot the left side is more prone to being run over by a semi than the right side. So even if the right side does blow off, the trucks try to avoid it...

With the tool box, main fuse and solenoid under the LH side they probably get removed more often than the RH sides do. Maybe this leads to them getting broken during removal/replacement and/or increases the chance that they're not refitted properly and blow off?
Maybe I'm just full of shit too. |

there's the possibility of happy hands reaching down to switch over to reserve while still rolling in traffic, especially with gloves on |

Its not just you. A little wire going through the bottom button/tab/knob (theres a hole there made for it) and then to any place on the frame. If the wind does take it, it will be billowing in the wind destroying itself against your own bike. But at least you'll wont be looking for it. |

Tools are on the right side on the 11F. So you're only partly full of shit.
Probably accurate though. The grommets play a key role too. |

Repacing the upto 28 year old grommets is highly recommneded, that is what I did after I lost my left side cover on my blue bike and then I tied them together with little tiny bungee cords through the frame.
I replaced all the grommets on all three of my bikes. |

Interesting... I've never lost a side cover from it flying off. I've had one stolen from my CB360T about 20 years ago.
I suspect that there a gremlins that take them or make them fly off. Same gremlins that take the one important part that keeps you from finishing a repair. Or the same gremlins that cause your battery to die before the road trip. |

Yeah, no kidding. My left cover just blew off and the one I was bidding on ebay for went for $77 + S&H!!!
I was prepared to spend $50, but that's just silly. |

I have had the honor of being in that house, garage and shed. Nice house, crowded garage because of CB-F motorcycles and the shed is a little gold mine of parts and other goodies, nevermind the little yard next to the garage. |

Years ago I broke a left side cover with my knee when putting the bike up on the centre stand. Maybe other people have too, which could account for left covers being harder to find. |

Speaking of left side covers.....
I have been trying to make a pair of aluminum tread plate sidecovers for my bike and I assumed that both covers had the same attachment points
The tread plate covers are meant to replace my my originals and keep them scuff free. The right hand side was used as a template, and once it was finished I used the same drill pattern for the left hand side. The covers don't look great but I don't have the money for a new sheet or the proper tools to cut them, so these will get bolted on regardless. At least they should match my less than perfect replacement gas tank. |

I have never broken or lost a side cover from my bike. (Yeah, I know, I hardly ride it these days) I have a couple of sets of spares though. |
