Buy my Fork Braces, Help put an F back on the road

New member here. Let me introduce myself. My name is Rob, CNC machinist and Cad/Cam designer for a vocation and motorcycles for an addiction.I've got a great wife and two fantastic twenty month old boys. I scored a 1982 900F a couple of months ago. Got it for a good price and its got all the stock parts. Trouble is they all need some attention. To help fund my latest project I thought I would produce some copies of the fork brace I have designed for myself. The cad model is finished and the toolpaths have been created,all that remains is to run the eight operations on the three different parts( It is a five piece brace). The bad news is I have only screen captures of the model to show and will not have time to produce the parts for about 3 to 5 weeks and they are only for the 900f 39mm fork , the good news is that I will sell the first eight sets for $90.00 each. They will be ultra trick, 3-D machined and much better looking than a cast brace (IMHO).You could let me know if you want dibs on one, I won't hold you to it if you dont like how they look in the flesh. I may only make the eight or nine.When they are ready I will offer them first to those that replied.Then I will post a thread in the For Sale section. Below you will find : my bike and my boys, the models and a sample of 3-D machining on a clutch cover I made for my Husky 610.Thanks and I am glad to be on the site.

That is a good looking brace. After spending hours watching my buddy on his Cad programs, I know it will look good when finished. I don't have the right forks. But I wouldn't think you would have a problem selling the 9 braces.

Although i am not in the market for a fork brace...I think that many fellow members would be interested if you would put your skill to work in designing a alternative alternator cover for our bikes something either along the lines of the stock cb1100r cover aka "wombat" or perhaps something along the lines of the japanese aftermarket systems floating around in one of these threads. I think that I remember someone saying..stoutblock??...that the electricals/internals were all cheap/and readily available items and thet we would just need someone to design and machine the cover. I hope this thread picks up steam and we can get this off the ground. You will soon find that forum is home to many very skilled and intelligent members who impress me on a daily basis. Again welcome aboard and I hope we can get some covers churned out after your braces.

I think we determined the cover was only one problem issue to overcome, the main one is the CBR rotor will not fit our CB crank.

The pricing is $110 US for the bracket set and $110 US for the Daytona damper. All shipping costs are extra.
I may have access to a few Hyperpro CSC dampers, these are a 120mm stroke length. These are not sold with a damper body clamp but I can supply the body clamp. I will post more info on these as it becomes available. These will be at a higher cost than the Daytona, they are also a superior damper and have active damping. The 120mm stroke length do not pose any fit problems, it is what I have mounted on the bike I ride.

No kidding Sean! I love the enthusiasum guys and the alternator deal is really interesting,but there is a reason the metal gear works of japan wants a "g" for them and its not the $130 cover and the $20 anodizing. A cbr rotor, stator and aftermarket regulator/rectifier looks to me like $500 right there!
Seems there is already a guy with plenty of steering dampers to sell also(hope you like blue) and by the way bryan do you have any pics of those mounted? They look good.
I want to thank everyone for the welcome,and while it looks like I could start a cottage industry making parts for our bikes, those two little guys on my bike are my main focus these days. I will be developing other parts for my 900 and offering them on here as I get them ready. Maybe a lattice rearset (mildly rearset) and some steering damper mounts, if Bryan hijacks my thread again! Just kidding!
Anyway I have michaelkeating,warpspeed,BillL,Tdem(I cant take too much more of that avatar!),sport,luckysox,motomoon,and mikeg as the first eight to speak up,so there you have it. Let me remind all that these are only made to fit 900F's with 39mm forks. Thanks again RC

They are finished! I ordered the stainless hardware today,should have that by Friday. Need to do some light deburring to the parts and will get better photos up too. Any day now! Those twins and my wife keep me busy, you dont even want to know all the things they have got going for me tomorrow! Cool

Pay no mind to the chipped paint and wasted fork tubes,which reminds me..... I may work a deal for fork tubes or decent aftermarket shocks. Thanks, Rob

I moved from Lawrenceville Ga last year to my present location. Good to have you onboard.

Would you consider doing a 79 750 version?

They have a 56mm fork hole and 181mm on center.

for what its worth, i THINK the VF750F 83 to 85 could use the same brace, and probably the sabre and magna. so would this work on the 1100F as well?
