I finially got around to opening up my blown engine. Here is a pic of the carnage.
I'll miss that 1100 big bore kit in my 900, but hey, it was fun while it lasted,,,
It's hard to belive that I rode it over a thousand kms AFTER it swallowed and spit this much of this piston. AND at the end of it all still would pull over 160 kph.. although you had to wait a while... and be ready with an oil IV.

Aww look at that poor high compression piston
I'll bet the dome is what kept her running long past the end though!
What's next ? Are you going to copy the setup or ???? |

Ouch, that one looks like it has seen better days man.
I am building an 1123 motor, how about you make me not the only one? |

Well this particular motor will go no more.
Besides the ahhhh... low compression in one cylinder, first gear had also given up, a victim of too much fun as well...
Not to mention there were a lot of metal bits .... EVERYwhere...
I think I'll just make it a nice spare parts inventory, and if I decide to build another hot rod, I'll start with a motor that has less .... history. This one had seem it's fair share of track time back when 900F's were fast .
The head didn't get beaten too much so it may live complete.. But the rest is just... parts.
I'm slipping a nice stock 901 cc motor into the frame, and for the first time in 20 years the displacment on the sidecovers will be truthfull. Geeze I knew I should have put 750 on them. |
