Honda has already shipped the new CB1000F to various other parts of the world. But don't get your checkbook out just yet - there have been oil consumption issues with the motor and numerous recalls have resulted. I spoke to the owner of a Honda dealership in TX and he doesn't expect to see any of these bikes until sometime next year.

At least this retro bike finally came to fruition. Too bad they're having this issue with an engine that isn't new. Confused

Quote:
The 2026 Honda CB1000F (and the CB1000 Hornet platform) has been heavily impacted by an excessive oil consumption issue. Caused by manufacturing defects in piston tolerances and low-tension piston rings, the engine can burn oil at a rapid rate, leading to potential engine damage if left unchecked

Hi Tom, as a UK expat living in the USA I've kept an eye on this oil burning issue, the 1000F was supposed to be launched in the UK last month but this issue has stopped that happening, my guess is by the time these bikes hit US dealers the issue will be corrected, I don't mind waiting until early next year as I've only just added a
Kawasaki Z900RS to my stable and am enjoying it immensely.

I remember when I bought a new CB900F back in 1979 it used a bit oil, so did my GS1000 as well, so I'm sort of used to it. Very Happy

I also think the price is pretty good as well.

Regards
Rob

Highway gearing, heated grips, a bunch of electronics and no cruise control? From what I heard today from my dealer here in CT, no sport pack (fairing) option in the US either. Tom...I'm looking at an SX SE on Monday.

To be fair, you aren't comparing apples to apples here. The Ninja 1100SX SE is at least $6K more, so one would expect it to have more features. It's a better bike for touring - especially if you spring for the panniers. Whenever Honda straightens out the oil consumption issues, I bet they'll sell a bunch of the new F's here in the U.S. If they don't, I wouldn't expect another retro bike from them.

The new F looks great, but I have zero regrets for not waiting. I love my Ninja and it makes me want to sell all the old bikes now, which I plan to do.

Heated grips are in the CB1000F accessory range, a gearing change will be easy, and the FS fairing is available on webike Japan already, my take is they’re launching the standard bike for the ‘26 year if they do well with it, then the FS model will launch in ‘27

So I bought the Ninja today and can honestly say it is amazing and everything Tom said it would be. Something to ride until the CB comes out. I put my name down to be #1 on the list if they come in to my dealership.

"Here's your speeding ticket, sir." (Given while the bike is sitting in the driveway, LOL)

Ride safely, brother!
