Sorry to hear this, Peter. There are a lot of these scumbags out there. PayPal F&F removes any buyer protection, so any time a person you don't know insists on it, be wary. I always ask for a photo of the object with the person's name and the present date written on a piece of paper next to the part.

May the scumbag's armpits be infested by a thousand fleas!

Sucks to hear this Peter.

Scumbag is not found on our forum searching those two emails, or (what is presumed to be) his real name.

Maybe contact the Admin of the other forum and let him know of the scammer in his midst?

SORRY to hear of your $$ loss.

SOOOO MANY of these low lifes on the forums these days.

When they say your part is available (that you have searched for ages for) it seems too good to be true (it usually ii Sad )

THEN when they ask for F&F and this is first time dealing with them the alarms go off.

A genuine first time seller OFFERS (before you ask usually) proof of possession (pics, dated id cards and pictures holding the parts).
Use PayPal goods and services and include a few % Extra to cover fees so net to seller is achieved and that typically ensures your money is safe.

SORRY this happened and hope the damage was minimal (mine was US$1K+) Sad.

Be wary ALWAYS and ask Plenty of questions. If the seller balks--you WALK.

I am of the opinion that if you are selling parts and accept PayPal then you should have already grossed up the price to cover the PP fee. I know I do when selling. Asking for F&F just screams scam to me.

I had the exact same thing happen to me on ADVRider, except literally just before clicking "submit" on PayPal I noticed the email was different (and had a "foreign" name) and I smelled a rat. I would have been out $300. I questioned it and saw enough to confirm it was a total scam and backed out.

This has been happening alot on ADVRider. The problem is, you look at the guy whose reaching out to you saying he's got what you're looking for and read some of his posts, they actually read like he knows what he's talking about on other topics.

Sucks that there's people out there doing this type of thing.

A quick google search of that guys email shows him offering parts on all kinds of forums - Ferrari, BMW, Dodge, Triumph etc.
