G'day Fellas.
Been a while, renovating new (80yo) house.
I hadn't ridden the 1100 for a few months. trouble starting and found 3 & 4 plugs wet. New plugs and sounded better. Short ride said no good. New needles helped but still not good. Got a set of seats from SCI.
Now the problem. The seat depth (how far it's pushed in) gives you the float height and the seats aren't pushed in all the way. They sit about 10 thou" proud and all should be identical.
I made a punch that the seat sits inside with a 10 thou" lip so they all get pushed in the same amount. Now just waiting on the new floats to fine tune the float height. If the need to go in a few thou" more I'll take that amount off the lip and punch in that much further.
If anyone is doing this you you are welcome to borrow the punch.
Cheers

I've never pulled the float seats before, interesting! Very smart to use the fixture as it will make sure all are the same! Good stuff. Cool

Pulling them is easy. Tap a 6x1 metric thread into them and use a slide hammer with a 6mm bolt attached. Gotta be careful putting them in, if too far you cant get'em out without stuffing them. Hence the tool.

The floats arrived today so et op to fine tune the seats. Now I have new floats, needles and seats. I was surprised at the different float heights between the four. I swapped the floats and needles around in all combinations but got the same readings. So conclude the SCI seats aren't identical. #1 was 18, #2 was 18.30, #3 was 17.85 and #4 was 16.83 !!! Had to take 2 thou" off the tool to get #4 right at 15.5, another 2 thou" for #3, 1 thou" for #1 and 1/2 thou" for #2. All now at 15.5 give or take a poofteeth. Tomorrow they go back on.
A question. Float height is a bit archaic. Fuel height is the important bit. I can't find anywhere a fuel height measurement. All mine are 1 to 2mm below the bowl/body joint. Tomorrow will tell.
Cheers
