I'm about to refinish the motor during stage two of my restomod. A buddy of mine did the vapour blasting job. I'm exited 😊 |

Nice work! The Cerakote stuff looks amazing! And I've done a test where I put a cerakoted piece of aluminum submerged in brake fluid for more than 24 hours and It didn't tough the stuff so to everyone doing wheels and frames this stuff is where it's at!
I have a paint booth at my house now and will very soon start offering vapor blasting and Cerakote in one place to you guys if your looking for this stuff.
Doesn't help you guys across the pond but it looks like you have it all sorted out. Be sure to posts lots of pics when done! |

All my builds now get Cerakoted ..... it's great stuff. Prep is key. Hopefully when the engine cases and other parts were vapor blasted he used a coarse enough media for the Cerakote to bind to. Normally 70-100 grit alum oxide in the vapor blast cabinet is what I use on the exterior for coating prep.
Nathan, the Cerakote for aluminum is great stuff and I used it on a set of vapor blasted Honda RC30 forks for a customer. It will bind to a polish surface as well and so things like polished rearsets would be a great part to apply this stuff to maintain the finish and give long lasting protection. |

Yes, ceramic coating is awesome. It disperses heat better and leaves a slick finish that dirt doesn't stick to as easily as paint or powder. |

I've been really impressed to far. Another nice thing is (and I was told this but haven't done it yet) is that bc it's thin you can mick up a whole engine with dummy hardware or valve cover and spray it all at one time. Then when you take it apart you have a nice crisp line that does peel or flake.
Threads of bolts are also being done by guys to help prevent rust and sticking later down the road. |

First part coated. I did a test coating the valve cover today. I'm impressed with how easy it is to spray Cerakote. Cleaning the spray gun is easy using brakecleen.
Color is Burnt Bronze. This will be used on the side caps on the motor as well. |

Looks great.
Does it require curing in the oven? |

Some of their products require oven curing and others are only air dry. Their biggest thing is clean clean clean (like most good paint companies). They would like you to blast aluminum parts with aluminum oxide and slack in acetone for about 30 min before paint. |

All the motor parts except the cylinders are getting the Cerakote C, which hardens in air. The cylinder and head will get the H. 24:1 mix. To be higher temp hardened. Both are extremely hard and chemical resistent. I'm overwhelmed so far. I spilled a drop on to my Peltor headset yesterday. Absolutely not cleaned and ready for any coat or paint. Today, 12 hours after the accidental spill, te core is impossible to remove from the surface.. |
