New to the forum, Bay Area, California 1980 CB750F owner.

Hey there, y’all! I just joined the CB750c community and found this website shortly after. Just wanted to thank you all for letting me join. I reside south of the San Francisco Bay Area and for the last 8 months have been working towards restoring a 1980 CB750F that I found on the internet for 400$. This is actually my first ever project bike and pretty much honestly my first mechanical project ever. So it’s been nothing but learning these last couple of months. But I’m really enjoying and I’m super appreciative to have access to a community of knowledgeable owners and enthusiast. Although I am definitely on the green side, I will try my best to contribute to the community rather than just leach and bother for help at my convenience. I imagine members come and go, so I would like to stay and learn as much as I can. Once again, thanks for having me and I posted a recent pic of my bike so far. It’s coming along nicely. Next I want to get the tank cleaned up, inside and out. I’m still praying the tank is useable. It’s been sealed with something silver / gray on the inside. Which seems ok I think.

Welcome to the forum! You've come to the right place for info & advice. Many here will be willing to offer help. I have a pair of silver sidecovers that are a close match (stripes are thinner) and the finish is a bit scratched up, but they're free for the asking - I'll try to get you some pics. I also live in the Bay Area on the south side of Oakland. If you haven't found it yet, check out the Technical Documents and Articles section - you will find a FSM (Factory Service Manual) for the 750 located there.

Good Luck bringing your 750 back to life....looks like you got a decent deal for $400.00. Ed

Welcome ! you have a great foundation for a project with nearly limitless
potential. it sounds like the tank has already been coated (possibly KBS), a big+,
saves a lot of work.

I’m wondering what you all think about my tank so far. The inside looks Surprisingly well. My best friend is a sign painter / pin stripper and is going to repaint and hand stripe the red and black stripes on the tank. I’m going to hopefully try and get that dent out this weekend .

And here’s some of the polishing that I’ve done so far. I’m sure it’s not that cool but I’m just really proud of how they all came out. Only to prob look like they did in a matter of weeks cuz I live a couple minutes away from the ocean. I had my carb bowls all cleaned up and nice and i still have them on my table and I took a bowl off the other day and the corrosion that has already built up in it.. wtf??

Folks in the area. I’m way down! My best friend lives in Santa Cruz and rides a 76 cb550. It’s brown with a cafe style seat. Maybe you’ll see him around !

Watsonville is next door! I will keep an eye out for your friend, don't think I have seen him yet.

There is a guy that rides down my street every morning on an old Yamaha Enduro. About a 1971 175. Super cool! I see Yamaha RD400s around town from time to time. A guy down the block from me has an old Z1 in his garage.
