Its been a while since I posted. Lets start a discussion on price gouging...
Starter clutch
If you need someone to drill some holes, buy you an r6 clutch, bolts, and loctite........this is an amazing deal. |

I would say that is over priced!! But hey, it's FleaBay, As a seller, you try to get what the market is willing to pay.
I've seen far worse parts on there for prices that are
Cheers!

No, this isn't price gouging. In the first place, this isn't the only option available and not even a stock one. It's a custom modification to a 40 year old part that isn't really essential for life, or even for the life of the motorcycle; it's a frivolity or luxury, not a necessity. There is no price ceiling for a custom part, just the free market.

| Quote: |
As of January 2019, 34 states have laws against price-gouging. Price-gouging is often defined in terms of the three criteria...
1.Period of emergency: The majority of laws apply only to price shifts during a declared state of emergency or disaster.
2.Necessary items: Most laws apply exclusively to items essential to survival, such as food, water, and housing.
3.Price ceilings: Laws limit the maximum price that can be charged for given goods.
Some states that do not have a specific statue addressing price gouging, can nevertheless apply the law as an "unfair" or "deceptive practice" under a consumer protection act. |
And like has been pointed out, Cary's product is no doubt much better, and cheaper too. Cary turns down the hub to be the proper diameter, most schleppers just slap the sprag clutch on the hub which is actually to large for the clutch, and then perhaps have an issue down the road. Not sure how the ebayer is making them, but if he was turning the hub down to the proper size, he'd probably be saying so in the ad.

Actually $275 if you return the old one. I’m a happy headless starter clutch user but I agree not crazy priced for the effort that goes into it and the value it adds |

With the way eBay has gone in the last few years, I'm shocked the shipping charges aren't $200. |

When I ask Cary to send me a starter clutch for a build I don't even question the price as I know I'm supporting a site member, the quality will be bang on, and it will last because it is machined and assembled the way it needs to be. Ultimately his prices are cheaper and think he will sell more being competitive ..... but I have a feeling that he's not in it to make a money, but to support owners and a bike he is passionate about. |

+1, not just for the starter clutch, oil pickups, banded clutch baskets, fender eliminator, and all else he does for us! |
