G'day Fers.
Just wondering what others use as engine stands when working on the lump. Need one to get the lump out and strip the top, then another to flip it over to get the bottom off and guts out.
I know it's something we do often (racers excepted). I'm doing the 1100 at the moment and will be doing the 900 next year so thought it a good idea to knock something up. Rummaging around I found enough to knock it up. |

Do you have harbor freight stores in Australia?
Just get a 50$ engine stand, then use your angle iron and some all thread. You'll figure it out from there. It can be set up with just the top rear hanger bolt alone. That way it can be rotated and thus the cases split without having to remove hanger bolts or otherwise reposition a heavy engine. Do a search, some pictures have been posted by others in the past. |

We keep hearing about Harbor Freight but I'm not sure if we have anything like that out here. |

Cheap Chinese import chain store. Actually, you can get some good non-professional grade tools there. Try www.harborfreight.com to see what all they carry. |

Musky, when you say SCA I guess you mean Supercheap. They were good many years ago but once the original owner sold out their prices jumped up a fair bit so I haven't been to any of their stores for years |

G'day Fers.
OK looked at the offers so far. Still can't get the lump out and hold it to remove the top end.
I have a base mounted to the trolley jack, the engine stand #1 bolts to it. Engine removed (1 person), stand is unbolted and slid onto the bench and bolted to it. Topend removed and stand #2 bolted on. #1 stand unbolted from bench and the whole lump is somersaulted backwards to rest on stand #2. Bottom case removed and guts worked on. Reverse to install. One man job!
No one wants to dodge flying spanners in my shed to help!
