I am very very sorry to pass along the news that ou r crazy passionate writer died. I don't know anything about how he passed other than he is gone.
At first I thought he was just crazy but after years of reading and messaging back and forth with Silas his real name I became to love the guy. Recently Soy Boy sent me a real Spondon rear caliper just like they used on the AHM bikes. I already have a new Brembo caliper for my race bike but now this caliper will go on my Phillip Island bike in memory of Soy.
I miss him already. A truly passinate man Good by Silas.

Peace Jim

Major bummer. He was of course "wordy," but he was very witty and humorous. If you hung in and read one of his lengthy monologues, you would find some hilarious gems and observations tucked in there. And man, did he have a passion for wheels!

RIP SoyBoy. You will be missed. Sigh. Crying or Very sad

That is disappointing news, but also very uplifting to know he had a friend in you Jim. I enjoyed reading his posts and will miss not seeing any new ones.

I only understood 32.5% of what Soy posted. When I eventually see him again I will say “WTF” and probably understand even less. I will definitely miss you Soy. Godspeed.

Godspeed, Silas.

I have to admit, I skimmed the majority of his posts - mainly because I'm lazy. He was certainly a prolific typist. I never understood his board name, either. Rest in peace, Silas.

Making a big assumption here, but Soy Boy is a slang term;

Quote:
Term used to describe males who completely and utterly lack all necessary masculine qualities - usually achieved by an over-indulgence of emasculating products and/or ideologies. The origin of the term derives from the negative effects soy consumption has been proven to have on the male physique and libido.

He was definitely a character - like most I didn't read all of his posts from start to end, but some I did, and most were entertaining if you took the time. Hopefully he's in a place now where rare / vintage motorcycle parts (and wheels in particular) are plentiful.

Rather than that definition, which no one really uses for oneself, I always assumed it was because he was from the Canadian prairies where soy beans are king.

Boy could he get excited about obscure and arcane vintage parts, more than once did I learn something fascinating but I also credit him for me learning the use of TL;DR.

Nope;

As for "-Sigh.", that's my name. Soy = vegan. Boy = manchild. Sigh = my name, as in short for Silas. Spelled it that way since I was little, just to give the teachers something they could pronounce.

that's unexpected and sad Crying or Very sad seemed too young - the guy actually made a difference with his long winded contributions - hope someone makes a wide rimmed comstar rear wheel as a tribute to one of his many passions

He once wrote a lengthy diatribe on my wheels when I put gold boomerangs on my 900. Probably his only post that I read in it's entirety. RIP Sigh.
