Perhaps I no longer hate them as much. Today while doing the engine swap in my '80 750f,
I learned an important lesson. If you remove the airbox bolt the boots line up so much nicer!!
I still hate getting them set in the airbox, but removing them makes getting the carbs in much easier.
Oh an other question, what damned spawn of satan designed the right side airbox trim piece?
My bike now is trim less on the airbox. It would seem to be a "you can't get there from here" to get the 3 screws
back in!

That right side cover only comes off if you have the airbox out, but its just a trim piece there is no need to remove it to service the air filter or anything else. |

On my R the air box hanging bracket bolt is so far off there is no way I can even get it in. I am planning on making a new bracket at some point that will line up. I can’t figure out what makes it so far off though. Unless maybe R’s had different inlet rubbers to F’s as I used new F rubbers on the rebuild. |

On my RD the threaded hole in the air box bracket is fully forward of the slot in the frame. You can't see any part of the thread through the slot. So I am running with no bolt at the moment and everything else lines up perfectly. |
