Already been contacted a out the Wolf pipe. Sorry to disappoint but I think that is going to stay on the bike. However, the foam grips are open to offers |

Put new piston seals and pads in my back brake and bled the system.
I've also fitted a Nonfango rack, to make the trip to Spa two up with luggage and camping gear more manageable.
Guessing how it's fitted, because I bought it second hand with no instructions.
It seems to be on pretty solidly, I picked the back of my bike up with it. It stayed where I put it
I'm polishing up the (over-sprayed with red lead type primer) alloy tank cap lock at this very moment.
Still no tank though
It's at the powder coaters shop, waiting to be collected, except he's now on holiday.
Tomorrows jobs.
Front fork oil to go in (turkey baster on standby, ready to be deployed)
New seals and pads to go into both front brakes and bleed the air out of them as well.
Fit new front brake light micro switch
Sort out a fault in my home made wiring harness. The rear brake light switch doesn't work. I think I broke a bodge I did putting it together.
It's an MOT Test fail (road worthiness examination) if it doesn't work. |

New pads and seals in both front brakes (twin pot brakes by the way), but I didn't get them properly bled. I ran out of brake fluid
Had to stop and go to get some off an old mate, he only had about a quarter of a pint himself and I still had a brake piston to pop out.
I'm totally out of brake fluid now, but it shouldn't take much more to get the job finished. I ain't getting any bubbles of air out, but still getting zero pressure at the lever, so there must be some air in there somewhere.
Because my garage is a fair walk away from the house, I had to pack everything away and get my bike tucked into the garage before I could leave. Then it's a good 20 minutes each way to my mates house. Then I've gotta get everything back out again before I can start work. We had a cuppa and a chin wag while I was there, as ya do, so lost a good couple of hours working time all together.
On the other hand he has also lent me a couple of very useful luggage bags, so I won't have to buy those just yet
I got the brake micro switch changed as well , but didn't get the fork oil done either
A busy weekend ahead of me next weekend.
Wiring harness repair, fork oil and getting those front brakes bled properly. That means buying a lot more brake fluid (some for me, some for my mate), which means a visit to a bike shop. At least a couple more hours of working time lost yet again
Pick up my tank from the powder coater, that won't be a quick job either.
Then it's got to be booked in for it's MOT test, hopefully I can get that done on Monday.
Then some riding around to make sure everything does what it's supposed to, when it's supposed to and to make sure nothings going to fall off.
Wednesday night on the ferry to Belgium and Spa for the Bikers Classic meet.
I hope to see several of you there
I'll have at least one bottle of good malt whisky in my bags, they'll go nicely with those nice Belgian beers |

My 750f had quit charging. Tested the rotor at 3.2ohms, Luckily I had a good spare, so yesterday morning I swapped them out. As usual, things are never easy and it still didn't charge. Read the manual on the charging system finding out how to test the R/R. Couldn't get good readings, so swapped that out for a spare also. Still no glory, crap...On to the stator. Found one on a parts bike with good brushes and clean looking. Still not charging. Frustration setting in now. Figured it to be bad r/r so swapped that one out for another one. In the process, the amp meter I was using was dangling loose and shorted against the frame. Turned the key on to test the 2nd r/r, and no power. Main fuse was good. Swapped the diode with another, nothing.
Checked grounds, all harness connections tight and sprayed with that contact cleaner Gene recommends. Still nada Tried everything I could think of. Spent 2 hours figuring this out. Power was going to the start relay, and sometimes I could, then couldn't, read voltage on both sides of the main fuse. Finally, in desperation, I swapped out the relay, and
viola, powers back...yeaaa! Started it up and though it is now charging better than before, still not up to 14.4v. Getting maybe 14v.
What a pita day it turned into, but in the end, I came out victorious.
All in all I thrashed on that sucker for 6-7 hours and at least a 6 pack of cold drinks |

Wept tears of frustration (well not quite), but I felt like it.
This morning I returned to my bike and finished off plugging everything behind the headlight in. All the lights and horn checked out fine, after a bit of work, a couple of new bulbs, a couple of loose connections tightened up with a judicious squeeze, you know the score.
Next the new tap went onto my replacement tank, I still haven't got my own repainted tank back. Mine has the simple 90 degree outlet pipe, no filter bowl. This tank has the other size, with a filter bowl, so I had to re-route the fuel line and trim an inch off it.
That all done, ignition on, crank it over a few times, fuel off. Crank it over a few times fuel on. Hit the red button again and...... we have ignition
Oh, but it doesn't sound quite right.
Blast, it's only firing on 2 + 3. Plugs all out, no spark on 1 + 4.
It'll be those original coils, swapped them for the pair of MP08 coils I've obtained. Try again, nope, no spark on 1 + 4, still.
So it wasn't the coils after all. Swapped over the blue and yellow leads at the coils, spark on 1 + 4, no spark at 2 + 3.
So both coils are OK, return those wires to normal. Next down the line is amplifiers. Swapped the amplifier plugs over, Spark at 2 + 3, no spark 1 + 4. So that should mean ???, erm ??? the amplifiers are both good ? Because the yellow feed side has been working all along. Now I'm feeding the yellow side with the blue feed amplifier and the yellow side is still working. Blue side is still not working.
Soooo, if I put a new wire from the blue side amplifier to the blue side coil, it'll fire on the blue side as well. Err, no it doesn't.
Return it all back to normal, have a think.
Get out my little old needle multi meter, volts AC n DC, amps and ohms.
At the coils, 12v on both black/whites, blue and yellow connectors. 12v at the amplifier end on blue and yellow. confirming they are both good.
Oh fffffffffff What next?
I've ordered a pair of new amplifiers from Dave Silvers, express delivery, many £s. They don't have pulse generators in stock and none of their suppliers have them either.
Phone a friend, nLovie.
What have you done so far? he says. I explain.
Either amplifiers or pulse generators he says. Amplifiers in the post already, but they don't have pulse generators, I say. I have, he says, I'll drop them off on Wednesday morning.
I don't know what to say. Thank you isn't enough
I've rebooked the bike in for its MOT test tomorrow. That doesn't need a running engine, although I'll have to ride it the 7 miles each way on 2 cylinders.
Then I can buy road tax, so it will all be legal. I will have the covers off, to ease fitting the pulse generators easier.
All being well, I should still make the ferry to Belgium on Wednesday night, for Spa at the weekend |

Hope you get it sorted and make it to Spa Simon
One area to check is where the wiring from the pulse generators plugs into the wiring loom, i have had bad connections there in the past, check none of the pins have pushed back
Good luck

Checked there as well Keith, looks good to me. All look clean and even.
Which reminds me. I checked the voltage at all of those plug pins to the pulse generators.
Both live feeds had 12v, looks right to me. Next pair down is the two blue wires, both also 12v, o k . Next pair down is the two yellow wires, both showing 3 - 4 volts ????
The yellow side is good, that fires cylinders 2 + 3, but those are showing a low voltage.
The blue side is bad, 1 + 4 aren't firing, those are showing 12v.
So is 12v here bad? I don't know and Mr Haynes doesn't say anything. |

I found the fault, another bad earth, on the blue side at the plug for that pulse generator. Once I'd run a jury rigged earth all was good.
I checked the voltage at the pins of red plug which connects to the pick-up coils. The two blue side pins had dropped to 2 - 3v, which matches the two yellow side pins.
It appears that 12v there is BAD.
I got to Spa, a day later than planned but didn't miss anything important. There's a fuller report in the Bikers Classic thread |

Absolutely perfect for riding in CT today. Took the beast out for 120 miles of exercise up into Western Mass. Just doesn't get any better than today. |

On Sunday, my son and I finished disassembly of his blue 1100F. (formerly Pointdiver's bike) This past winter I powder coated nearly every part that would be going on the bike. We decided it would be foolish to put all those nice looking parts back on a grungy frame and gross motor, so the frame will get PC'd and the motor will be painted. I tried out my HF soda blaster for a few minutes and it looks like it will do a nice job removing the paint and grunge. |

Glad I have a wealth of knowledge so close to home. Rebuilt my rear caliper today with the help of your caliper rebuild video. Your method for getting pistons out worked flawlessly so thanks for posting that. Back brake is no longer sticking it is working as it should.
Gas tank was a nightmare inside so I sent it to PA to get rust completely removed and sealed properly (not cheap by the way!). I actually made it worse soaking it in vinegar and ended up with some pinhole leaks so I said I better bite the bullet before I destroy it altogether.
In the meantime going to pull the carbs and decide if I need to get a rebuild kit or if a simple cleaning will do so when tank comes back I can try to start this thing. Makes sense to just get a kit since I will be pulling them apart anyway but tank expenses set me back quite a bit so I'm going to see what I am working with first. |

Finally got my bike back from fabrication. Custom cold rolled steel headlight bracket bates style to hold my LED daymaker. Custom stainless steel exhaust resonator glasspack style. Tail hoop chopped and welded with integrated LED signals and brakes, perforated steel see through style. Electronics tray, with tucked antigravity battery. Its basically ready for gull mockup now, then once its all set and ready I will detab the rest of the frame and begin its full disassembpe again for powdercoat. Probably gonna ride it all ratty right now though. Still need to helicoil my rear caliper, refurb my discs and install them, get custom braided brake lines, and source a new rear brake master. Then its time to pull the old sprockets, put my new sprocket and chain kit on, run a new fuel line and install a petcock, and add fluids the we will see if it runs! |

got my body work back from my mate who is a master at fixing bashed things - the tank looked like it had been used as a practise ball for the all blacks - only a light skim of filler used - the man worked the twist and bents out of it
OK it seem's to be turning into a suzuki and TBH I like it, but the frame is built to take a CB1100 motor and it still is my plan to end up with this - i.e. the GSXR is a test donkey for the chassis - it will be tough - when it happens to change the paintwork to a Joe Dunlop HondaGB colours - anyway, honda forum / suzuki looking bike, yea these things happen in the twists and turns of project bike building |

Awesome winter riding weather continues here in Sydney. Yesterday I took the 11F for a burn, after a couple of days of messing about with the dreaded "click" and no starter spin.
Confirmed the charge and condition of my youngish AGM battery, pulled the starter and checked that direct juice would make it spin. Also asked the guys who rebuilt it a couple of years ago to give it a quick checkover. No problems with the starter.
I almost ordered a new starter solenoid ($180), but the friendly guys at the parts counter suggested I check my contacts for cleanliness first. So, after reinstalling the starter and battery, I cleaned the terminals on the solenoid as well as the pins and plug that comes out of the top of the solenoid. And she starts. Success for $0, and I learned something. |

I installed the Captain's shifter mod. I only had the time to do a very quick lap around the block to test it out, so will reserve comments on the outcome until I have had a chance to do a more extended evaluation ride. As you can see, I had previously done the shifter window mod. |

Not today, but Thursday. It was sunny and about 50 degrees out, so I went for a ride down to an ethanol free marathon to fill the tank up. On Friday it snowed |
