Greetings
I've recently picked up an '82 CB900f. Cosmetically very good. Mechanically about average. It needs fork seals to certify, and definitely needs tires before it can be ridden safely. I'll poke away at as my winter project.

Welcome to the forum. Wow, that's a beauty! Except for any personal preferences, it looks like cosmetic work is barely needed. Fork seals and tires are easy, so why wait until winter - do them now and enjoy!

Tom

Welcome!

Great looking bike. Much better looking than the average bike that people pick up on CL. I'd say if the only issues are tires and fork seals then Tom is right, get em done now!

Hey Whiskeywizard, Looks like your going to get a lot of compliments on that bike as you ride it around.

Check Youtube for a hack on how to make a tool to clean around the seal. I made one from a water bottle and it cured my seal leak.

And if you are a 'Whiskey Wizard' then we need to meet beerchug

Welcome to the site!

Welcome to the best F site...period! Where in the north shore are you? There are plenty of Ontario F'rs on here.
Check to make sure the PO didn't put air in the forks, that could be the cause of a leak. Changing out the fork oil probably wouldn't hurt either.
How many clicks on the clock?

Cheers!
Chris

Now that's one VERY pretty 900, looks clean as a whistle too! I agree, just change out/fix the necessary, light the wick and enjoy! You will not regret it.

Welcome to the site.

Replace the inner fork bushings top and bottom to insure that you won't have leaks. Use genuine Honda parts including the seals and wipers.

If you have pitted fork tubes, you're chasing a lost cause. Replacements available from Forking by Frank if needed.

Use specific fork oil too, not ATF (about 7w) that was recommended when new. I like 10w, others like 15w for a firmer ride.

Make your own seal driver from PVC pipe.

This isn't a big job if you have the right tools and equipment.

Plenty of help / advise here if you need it.

Welcome to the site, enjoy.

Well I just learnt something...I've been 'americanized' Shocked

Oxford English Dictionary, Second Edition: "In modern trade usage, Scotch whisky and Irish whiskey are thus distinguished in spelling; 'whisky' is the usual spelling in Britain and 'whiskey' that in the U.S."
