I picked up a track bike recently and used uShip to get it to me. I was a little uneasy, having never used uShip before. I checked the shipper's feedback carefully and everything worked out great. The bike arrived today.

I know it's not and "F" but here is a pic (2008 CBR 600RR):

Can you explain a little more how the U-Ship process works?

You set up an account (just an email address and a password), and list what you want shipped, with specific pick up and delivery addresses. You are able to upload pictures of the item being shipped. Then you list the date range of acceptable dates for the item to be picked up, and an acceptable date range for the item to be delivered. You are able to specify other specific services you want (enclosed transportation, etc.). uShip will tell you the typical cost for similar items shipping from and to similar locations. If you want, you can Name Your Price (the price you will pay for shipping) and then shippers "bid" on your request (which is take it or leave it if you have used name your price). The Name Your Price section has a graph showing the probability a shipper will want your job - so at price X there is a 25% likelihood someone will accept your bid, and at price y there is a 80% likelihood someone will accept your bid, etc. When a shipper accepts your bid/job, you have a certain amount of time (maybe 12 hours?) to accept them or reject them. During the time you are determining if you want to accept the shipper or not, your job does not appear on the board for other shippers to see. If you reject the shipper, your job goes back to "active" and other shippers can again see your job. If you accept the shipper, you enter credit card info to pay for the amount in full, however, the shipper does not receive the funds until you release the payment at the time of delivery. you can view a shippers profile before you accept them. The profile of the shipper i used contained the type of equipment he uses, the amount of insurance he carries, his area of expertise (he said he moves a lot of motorcycles), and feedback and written comments from previous jobs. My shipper had a LOT of comments from people saying they were happy with his transportation of their motorcycle. Obviously, details and feedback can all be fabricated, but in my case everything worked out and I was very happy with the overall process. i would be glad to answer any other questions you might have. I have only used this service once. Other on this board might have more words of wisdom to pass along.

I used them once, which is how I met my regular guy I've used ever since. It's a better deal for the user than it is for the shipper as UShip's fees are high to them, but it is a good way for the shippers to "bundle" or fill up their trailers as they move through areas. It also makes a difference if you are on a major north/south or east/west corridor as to how many quotes you get. I just picked up a 92' ZX7 that was in Wichita, KS and had to use Motomovers cuz my guy doesn't go that far west and I only got 1 quote from a UShip guy that was out of the question.

I used UShip to have my GS1100 shipped to me from Nevada. The guy did a great job. When he was dropping it off, he said he didn't realize how far off the beaten path I was. Not sure if he would deliver this far south again.

Well, it may not be an F, but a sweet looking ride nevertheless and probably a blast to ride. There is life after F.

I have had 3 good experiences using Uship. And like Wayne said, once you get a good guy. Just go to them direct in the future. You'll find many guys stick to a constant area and now based on where the bike is at I go with who I know covers that part of the country.

I'm going to be shipping my '81 F from Brooklyn, NY to San Francisco, CA and just started an auction on uShip. If anybody already has a good vendor, I'd definitely go direct with them. Anybody able to provide some contact info?

Thanks!

Jonathan
