This news sure puts a damper on my excitement for tomorrows race, and I'm sure all the racers feel the same way. Prayers for Nicky for sure. |

So sad to hear of his passing today. I met him at the 2016 World Super Bike @ laguna Seca, ran up to him while he was about to take off in his pit bike (Honda Grom) to the pits, but saw me and stopped to sign my friend's Arai helmet. Wished him luck on the race and watched him zip down the famous corkscrew. |

I was fortunate enough to get to see him grow up club racing in the CMRA in the 90's.
First on YSR50's, then 125's, then 250's, before he was old enough to get his AMA license and turn pro. He didn't stick around long after he got his AMA license, nor did he stay in the states long after that.
His parents and brothers and sisters are all the finest people.
Nicky was the best example this sport had to offer.
My heart goes out to the Hayden family and Nicky's fiancée...........
This isn't the way things are supposed to happen |

I have a tribute planned for Nicky, I'm going to my Moto GP subscription and I'm going to watch the final race of the 2006 season when Nicky beat out Rossi for the world championship.
RIP Nicky #69 |

aye thats a great idea - my memorable recall for Nicky was his clash with Dovizioso at the Indy GP, its not just the brilliant footage of it, it was as much his rapport afterwards - a great example of Nick's character, he was one of the motogp guys who could take a knock and shrug it off in a manner that only gentlemen do - not like one of the spoilt brat pack! |
