I own 2 sets of Ohlins rear shocks (1100f & 900f) which I consider spline shattering! This winter I converted the front forks on my 1100f to Race Tech Gold Emulators with RT single rate springs (Best Improvement). After dialing in the front suspension I realized the rear Ohlins were in need of change. I phoned Ohlins USA and spoke to Gary in the service Dept. and he suggested I return the shocks describing the lack of sag (175lb. Rider) and harsh ride over rough road surface. Gary dynoed the shocks and decided to soften springs 1 size and changed valving to soften for touring performance. Gary has saved all info so anyone can return their shocks for modification for $200 (springs $100 and valving labor $100).
This change is dramatic for me! Front and rear suspension modification has transformed this bike a comfortable TOURING RIDE!

See Y'all on The N.E. Spring Ride!

Hey Jim, when you fit the emulators to the forks did you eliminate the damping adjusters and gut the damper rods in the lower fork legs on the 1100 forks?

Yes, you remove internals from dampening rod and braze 2 of 3 bleed holes, then drill (2) 8mm holes low on the rod.
Yes, I replaced the adjustment rods with aftermarket caps.

Hi Jim, thanks. That's the way I was looking at it and just needed confirmation.
