There are still a number of 2013 and 2014 CB1100's collecting dust at various dealerships around the country. It's such a shame that Honda didn't put the R&D into a modern 1100R or something similar that MIGHT have been more successful.
Maybe if you have $9K burning a hole in your pocket, you should buy one of these and leave it in the crate. Will it be sought after and valuable 25-30 years from now? I don't know. It isn't all that unique compared to the CBX.
Still waiting for something really nice to come along that will "force" me to sell a couple of the oldies and make space for a new one. Will any of the teaser concept bikes ever come to fruition? |

Two great ones out in 2017 from Honda...
Africa Twin and new 2017 cbr1000RR SP ...I'll take one of each..
Africa twin for touring and adventure. CBR1000RR to rock my world with light weight, full electronics and adjustable Ohlins suspension w/ brembo brakes..if the riding position is more BMWs1000Rr rather than Yamaha R1, seems like a home run for a Honda fan.....
That 1100 retro bike looked OK but lacked serious power ...Hard to get excited about a bike that makes 86 HP....Don't see that as a future collectable but I've been wrong before..The Africa Twin isn't a burner either but is made to do a different task.
When I saw the TransAlp I thought it was hideous and wondered who would buy it..They were heavily discounted as well..Turns out Honda made an adventure bike twenty years before they got popular..Now I think that same TransAlp looks neat |

I doubt it Tom,
Honda IMO, missed the mark altogether. They made it look more like the CB1000 than the 1100F. No zip, no pizzaz, just another bike.
Whereas the CBX had some wow factor from day 1. Six cylinders! Are you kidding me??!!!
I'd rather import a CB1300, those are cool! But I'd need a contact in Europe whenever I needed parts. |

With the way the Aussie dollar is sinking, one from here may be a better bet. |

I'm with J.R. on the CB1300...They are sweet bikes that I'd love to own one day....
If someone can step up that has connections for importing...I'd be serious about it...
To Tom's question...I'd buy a CB1100 with the 6 speed then totally modify the bike....but I'd have to buy the bike right to justify the mods...

Yeah man, CB1300 Please. Beautiful machine with performance to match.
The new CB1100's don't do much for me. Not that good looking, mediocre performance. They're trying to sell 2013 leftovers at or near MSRP. You could probably get one for about $6000 if you had cash in hand. With 2017's arriving soon, it's effectively a 4 year old bike.
But, you never know what might be collectible or valuable some day. I saw an "average" driver quality Corvair sell recently for $7500. 20 years ago that would have been worth $500 or so. |

I couldn't agree more.
I stood there looking at that bike, looking for the point of buying that bike and couldn't figure it out. |

Really...what's with the pipes on these new bikes? The muffler on that 1300 reminds me of fart cans the Fast and Furious crowd were (are?) putting on their little foreign cars.
So much for having them tucked in, I guess. |

+1 That muffler looks totally out of place on that bike. I would imagine that many of them have been swapped out for something sleeker. |

A friend of mine had to call Akrapovic directly about a question he had. I think he had to call Poland (or wherever they're made) and mispronounced the name. The guy on the other end, in a deep Russian/Ukrainian/Polish voice told him "...it's Akrapovic!" sounding like A-CROP-O-Vitch. |
