New build at db Customs has begun alongside a GS1100ES. If people are interested I'll post the GS build in the Great Beyond.

My customer wanted a CB1100RD RestoMod built to closely resemble the Sanctuary RCM156 bike. We are starting with a donor CB1100F (thanks to cb1100fer), that will be modified to accept the RD bodywork. The motor will contain the special curved guide, AHM tensioner, and cam chains from Vince and Hyde Racing (Captain), as well as degree'd cams, Keihin FCRs, and JayGUI Racing exhaust. Since we are a little congested with bike builds, we called upon JES BUILT Motorcycles (JJam) to replicate the Sculpture swingarm, which is a modifed mid to late 90's GSXR600 unit. The build will also have full OHLINS suspension, Brembo brakes, Nitro Racing rearsets and carbon fiber front fender with fork brace, OZ Racing wheels, Dyna ignition, Driven clipons, modern switch gear, KOSO gauge, and carbon fiber mirrors.

Here is a few pics as we begin the mock-up.

Crazy expensive for the Nitro Racing exhaust out of Japan, can't justify it, not even for this build. Will be using a JayGUI Racing exhaust, who I am a distributor for.

$1150 USD plus shipping (shipping is around $75USD). The silencer you see is a special one made for the Spencer Tribute I just built. The one that comes with the exhaust is different.

I know most of you guys here are fans of 4-1s, but why not considering a Marving 4-2? It looks great in black chrome and comes closer to the R look than anything else in the market.

Are they actually 'black chrome plated'? In the picture on the website, the header pipes look like they're painted:

I had a Marving on my GS1000 and while they are well built and quiet, they are heavy. I've looked at the black chrome one and it seems nice. When I installed the 4 into 1 on my GS i was shocked on the weight.

I didn't like the finish on the 4 into 1, but these look much nicer.

The set I had looked black chrome. I do not have it anymore, so I cannot say for sure. They did not fit my RD

Bit of an update. The aftermarket bodywork is with my painter being painted and so I am using my old RC bodywork to start setting up the mounting points. Here is where she is at. In a few weeks it will look much different.

Front end seems to be quite low. Have you taken geometry into consideration or just went for looks?

So what? Some guys here on this site are above to be asked questions that could be relevant for others, just because they are so perfect in everything they have done?
Good to know.

No, because I believe YOU wouldn't know the difference between what geometry would be ideal and what is not for these bikes. I am not above anything, not in anyway, if it were anyone else that asked the question or pointed something out they felt off, I would had answered it in a very different way. Anyone else on this forum or who are in my circle of friends would know this. I am open as a book. YOUR entire post history on this forum demonstrates that you add no value to any thread here ... all you do is knit pick and criticize. I am not the only one who sees this ..... many here do. In short, if you have nothing positive or progressive to add, fuck off. I do mean this sincerely Wink

Hmm, so I'm not the only one who has noticed this. Thanks Darren, This made me smile this morning.

The bikes looking good. Have you test fit the JayGui with the brace yet? I hope that its clears like how I had it. I have found that Harries test CB is a Euro model (Ha go figure) and they don't have the exhaust lugs on the oil pan. That lets the pipe ride a bit higher then how I had it set up. I am now telling my customers that have got the pipe to cut the stock oil pan lugs off. This lets the pipe ride where Harrie meant it to be.

Keep it in a Wheelie, Jim

The shock mounts will be welded on today. Upon mock-up I have the geometry set at 12 degrees droop with both wheels just touching the ground. I have the shock mount positioned in the middle position so this will give me about +/- 0.5 degrees of adjustment. If you look at where the shock mount currently is, looks like we (me and you) have positioned ours similarly to achieve the same using the same GSXR swinger. Looks like with my 40mm offset triples, and after all other considerations, I am right at about 97mm of trail. This is a great number to be at without having to modify the steering stem.

Once I get the shock mounts on, I can put race stands on front and back and pull the motor this weekend. I will paint the swinger last, so if there are any interferences with the exhaust, I'll modify whatever needs to be modified on the swinger and then paint it.

This started as a Canadian model so shouldn't have any issues with the pan. Very Happy

In short: I have worked on motorcycles when you were still soiling your pampers. Half of the guys here on this site have no idea what effect lowering or raising a front end has on something that's called "trail" and what that effect that in turn has on handling. They are hackers who bolt stuff on their bikes because the threads fit. And they are running behind arrogant jackasses like you and worship on their altars. But you are absolutely right about one thing: I will indeed "fuck off". Unlike you and some other "experts", I really do not need the exposure of an internet web-site to pucker up my ego, Check my log-in history from here on forward. Save yourself your wise-ass comments, I will not see them.

Right, where were we?

Looks fantastic Darren, and I really appreciate you and Jim sharing the details of the geometry explorations. Have a project on the horizon for which I am going to have to learn a lot more about that.

For sure there are a lot of custom bikes getting built with zero thoughtful consideration for chassis dynamics, and it frankly scares me to see the shit that passes for a motorcycle on some of those "builds".

This bike is going to be awesome, as usual.

N.
