Good news to report. I am going home tomorrow.
I am holding food down but not too much solid food yet. Just small bites. I have an open wound in my belly that will require me to have rebandaged every other day for the next 2 months. (have to visit the hospital for this).
I am hoping to be able to return to work in November.
I want to thank everyone for your encouragement and support.
Dave |

Dave,
I'm thrilled to hear you are home and doing better. I am always the last to hear about anything as I just don't spend enough time reading posts on the forum, and I heard about you while at the ride last weekend. In any event I'm really glad to hear you are doing better and hope to have you join us again sometime in the near future!
Best,
-Izzy |

Glad to hear you've jumped such a BIG Hurdle and are at home again.
The peaceful surroundings should surely help the healing process.
MOVING Forward.

Well I am finally going back to work after 5 months. 1st day back is tomorrow (December 1st). I have been through quite an ordeal this year but for the most part I am doing very well these days. I am Cancer free and am able to eat food and drink beer normally again.
I was in the hospital for 2.5 months (1 month in ICU)
I lost over 40 lbs
Had to get Physical Therapy to get strong enough to walk again
Had to learn to eat solid food again
Still having skin grafts to heal up the surgery wound but I don't have any pain
Have to deal with an Ostomy Bag for the next 9 months until it can be reversed next year
I appreciated the support from the members here very much. It did make a big difference for me (to stay positive and work through the surgeries) when I was going through all of this.
Best news of all is that I should be able to ride my bike this next spring. I don't think I'll be doing any major work on it over the winter although I really do need to take the front end apart again and replace the steering head bearings to try to get rid of the clunk when hitting sharp bumps. That will just have to wait one more year.
Take care everyone and thanks again for your support and well wishes!! Happy Holidays too!!!
Dave |

That might be a possibility, Todd. The spring ride might be a little too soon but the fall ride next year could work out..... maybe. Thank you for loaning me your bike last time and offering to do it again. I plan to ship my bike to one of these rides and then ride it back to Alaska but that will be a few years from now. Maybe in Spring of 2019 I will be able to put that plan into action.
