The starter clutches in my 900F and 1100F have been marginal for the past couple of years, sometimes spinning without engaging. Before the spring NE ride, the 1100F was starting harder than ever because of this problem and shortly after, the starter clutch failed altogether on my 900F. I ordered two from Cary, aka "Headless" and they arrived within a few days. I put one in the 1100F before the ride and was amazed at how much better it started. And installation is a piece of cake! I finally got around to installing the other one in my 900F this past Sunday and finally took the bike out to start it after work today. It had been sitting for a while, so the bowls needed to fill up, but man, did it crank nice! It finally roared to life and now starts beautifully.
The service that Cary offers is unprecedented. He's also a really nice guy! We are so lucky to have someone like him rebuilding a component that's notorious for failure and having them readily available for quick shipment. If you suspect that your starter clutch is on it's last legs, order one from Cary and your starting problems will go away.
Starter clutch #3 is on the way and will be going into the rebuilt motor for my 1100F resto-mod. Might as well "start" out on the right foot! Thanks Cary!

Hands down the biggest reliability improvement to my 1100F was the starter clutch from Cary. Never knowing if you are going to start is not cool. |
