My resto-mod will not have center stand. I had to remove all existing center stand hardware to accommodate the lower shock linkage for the CBR swingarm. The swingarm has threaded holes to accept spools for a rear stand, so I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a good, sturdy stand. There are lots of them on Amazon and eBay, and many can be had for not much money. I don't want a piece of junk and would rather spend the right money for something strong that will last. Here's an example of a front and rear stand combination: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTORCYCLE-Sport-BIKE-SWINGARM-SPOOL-FORK-FRONT-REAR-DUAL-LIFT-STANDS-COMBO-/222147741167?hash=item33b90985ef:g:lTUAAOSwmtJXWdbY&vxp=mtr

Reviews for these are mixed, so I'm a bit skeptical. Recommendations?

Thanks,

Tom

I have that exact setup and am thoroughly impressed with it, especially when the price is considered.

I have a nice aluminum one I got from Harbour Freight I use on my R. Like it a lot. I started out with the steel HF one which I liked a lot less.

I'll second the aluminum Harbor Freight model. It's cheap and works well. I got mine for less than half what that Ebay model is going for.

These are more $$$, but nice if you want to use on multiple bikes, as they have a model that has both spools and rubbers, for bikes without spools, and lots of adjustability, can also get with removeable handle.

I've owned/used 3 brands in our garage.

Pitbull - super hefty, strong, legit quality. feels like it will last forever.

Woodcraft - not as hefty, but well made, strong. super sturdy.

Venom brand - works fine, thinner material, I always double check placement. not as confident as the other ones, but works fine if you make sure it's in properly.

I forget which one wasn't tall enough for me to do a wheel swap...I wanna say the venom or woodcraft. When I was swaping my wheels to the boomies, it didn't lift it high enough to clear the ground. I remember we had to jack it up so I can swap everything smoothly. It was a long time ago, so I'm not sure which one it was. This was my first wheel swap on the cb ever so take this with a grain of salt, I may not have done it the easiest way, not even sure you need to clear the ground to remove the wheel but just something to consider. Bike was cb900f with stock suspension and stock wheels.

Woodcraft, my #1 choice well made, light, perfectly balanced, even lifts the CBX with minimal effort. The aluminum one from HB broke, the steel one is very difficult to get your bike on. It lifts it way to high in the air and does not roll over well.

I have 3 woodcraft rear stands, 2 with paddles one for spools. I also have a woodcraft front stand which is also well balanced. I have 1 hindle front stand and a hindle low end rear stand.

I also support racers when ever I can.

Lang Hindle and the Woods (Jeff and Eric) are all fast guys that turn out quality products. Good people to support Very Happy

My # 1 choice is woodcraft.

Not as well known based on everyone elses posts, but I have two of the DMP brand stands and really like them. Good height for our bikes and nice solid tubular construction;

I use both a front and rear stand on my R that I picked up at a local "Cycle Gear" store. I think the brand is "Tackside". Well made and easy to handle. Price each was less than $80/each incl tax when they had a sale.

Tom, Pit Bulls get my vote. I have two sets of them. Be sure you get a front one that allows the removal of the forks. The Pits
lift using a pin that goes up in the center of the Steering Stem. If you can, find a used pair via CL, or Fleabay. I stole my last set
from CL for $100 for the pair. Wink

These are all great inputs. My son and daughter were looking for ideas for my birthday, so now I have some suggestions for them.

I've had the Pit Bull for a long time. Good product, worth the extra $$. Well made and strong, the wheels are also large and wide which is a good thing. Happy birthday Tom. beerchug

Cycle Gear has the "Trackside" stands front and rear for sale at $59.99 each. I am using these on my Rs. Great to work with.
