You also might be interested to know that almost 2/3 of the total registered members (9880) haven't made even one post!

http://www.cb1100f.net/modules.php?name=Members_List&file=index&mode=posts&order=ASC&start=9870

... and 3035 members have made more than 1 but less than 10 posts.

http://www.cb1100f.net/modules.php?name=Members_List&file=index&mode=posts&order=ASC&start=12900

In reality, there are only a few hundred posters that have done most of the posting. The 500th highest poster has posted 125 times.

Out of the 500 top posters, I don't recognize a lot of the names, and I've been around some time.

That's the way it goes with these forums. Most of the posters don't stick around that long, or even own the bikes we cater to for long.

Also note that the poster with the highest post count posts way more political type posts than bike related posts, and some of the other high posters are also close in that regard. So if you want to develop some kind of statistical numbers regarding bike content relevance of posters, that would need considering.

Naaa Gene...I'm not into statistics cuz we all know the true reality...I just thought it was cool. I'm glad however that you post a lot, cuz I appreciate your experience and knowledge of these machines we love and your passion for the true mechanical side of them clearly shows. Please carry on!!!!!

Well I for one agree with Wayne that this is certainly a milestone for this awesome forum...and many thanks to those that created and maintain it..

I'm a member of 6 bike forums and this one by far has the most activity and member interaction than all the others.

Since I joined this forum I've had the privilege to interact with many great guys with knowledge that they have been willing to share with me and other members....

I now have forum member friends that stretch from coast to coast and in other countries around the world...

I feel fortunate to have found a great bunch of bike enthusiasts like myself that we've been able to share our passion along with our struggles...

E

I guess my point was that the number of posters that actually help with bike issues on a day to day basis is not anywhere near 15,000, or even 500.

That's true Gene....but there's a lot of guys that are in the learning process...and I'm running into guys that love these bikes that weren't even born when we were buying them new. And a fair number who are afraid to ask questions because they don't want to sound stupid and are intimidated by the vast knowledge of some.....And it's true lots of things have been covered in the past, but try using the search engine from the 2-1/2" viewport on an IPhone....laptops and desktops are not the primary use resource any longer.....My point was that at least we are still growing!!!!

Youn's probably a little low but not by much. Hopefully some guys will read this and be encouraged to be more active here. If we continue to focus on the negative and lack of things, we will continue to receive more of the same. But if we are upbeat and positive, and encourage others to become more active we will receive that which we are wanting. So my original post is more that of an encouragement to others and also as a tribute to the founders and those that are currently very active like Gene who is a god send when things go awry with our bikes....

Have faith Wayne, this slice of time is not much different that any other time in the last decade. There are those that post and help, others lurk, many stop by once and never come back.

If you read posts from 2005 you would see the same problems as today being posted and a different set of people, for the most, part answering.

Ohhh I know Glenn.....and I've contacted several of the guys that were at one time more active and found a veritable treasure chest of knowledge and some really super awesome guys....Some are still "F'ing", some not, for various reasons, mostly due to health issues....but they are still here, as you say, lurking! I'm just trying to encourage everyone. For the shy and timid to not be afraid and for the regulars, to say thanks....that's all. And you see some of the other bike makes forums that may have 15,000 on-line on a given evening, not just total members. So I thought a little encouragement might help out and give a boost to those that do participate a lot to let them know there are those out here that appreciate their efforts....

I am relatively new to this forum. Actually this was my first bike forum where I registered. I have also noticed that there is not so big bunch of people who are active and I mean ACTIVE. That group of people help others and really spend many hours in a week doind that without asking anything back. All I can do is say thank you!

I have learned alot and I have learned that I can always ask. Naturally I try to search first. If I see a question which I think I can answer I do that and try to become an active member. I have long journey before I can be even close to you guys but I will keep on walking...

You're a super addition Metu to the forum....every new project we undertake we are learning...even things we've done before we learn better ways of doing it....

I learned an incredible amount of stuff here, and I'd already done most of my building and riding before I found here. The more you learn the clearer things become, or as they say, when the student is ready, the teacher appears.

I am only new to this forum also but not new to bikes. I am new to the CB900 bikes as I have had other brands for many years and still do. Coming across 2 CB900s was an out of the blue find for me and knowing absolutely nothing about them encouraged me to find and join this forum. I do not post about anything mechanical on these bikes as yet as I am here to learn from the vast amount of knowledge you guys have and for that I am thankful. As someone posted earlier it is hard to join a forum that has been around a long time and fit in straight away. We need to find our place and work our way into it. As for me, I might not post much yet but I do log in every day and read every new post so I am here learning as I go so thanks guys.

There are some folks on site in training, like me. Not well enough informed to offer help. Give me time, it's now my full time occupation. Recently retired!
The tech advisors on this site are generous with their time and greatly appreciated!!!

My bike wouldn't run without this site. I would have burned the valves ages ago. The guys here are great. The Northeast guys are pretty active, but we know each other very well and do whatever we can to help each other. It helps that it gets cold up here often and it's easy to find very low mileage CB "F"s pretty often. We also go bombing around a couple times a year which is a riot.

Thanks Glenn Very Happy

p.s. Can we bring your bike to the spring ride, it probably misses us. Razz We won't rev it over 9500.

The box of rocks are the guys we really need. What they don't know about these old girls hasn't been done or attempted yet....

Now I'm feeling really guilty to contribute something, but what? Oh yea, like Todd said - bombing around the north-east is a riot! Keeping the old beater running with help from the guys here is why I check in almost every day.
