Well, that's a damn good answer! I think even the bold part alone is more then enough of an explanation. Again, it is simply awesome. I really like the funky use of colour as well.

No that I think of it, damn, the F engines are one of the best looking bike engines ever!

I agree here.....when I first laid eyes on my 750,I was like...shit-look at that motor....pods(insert swearword here),4 into 1,and later I fond out it had these ass kicker slingshot carbs Very Happy

(thats why my pods work!).
This thing was beat up bad....and the previous owner was selling because he had just laid it down....but I still had to have it.
My local beer drinking crew still doesn't know what the hell it is....just that "it's got this big fuckin' four cylinder in it man". Cool

hey - where I live, the side street speeds are usually over 55 and the freeway speeds are knocking on triple digits all the time. we're not that far off!

The tinkering thing...man, I dont know about that. Short of oil changes, because I ride it that much..everything else boarders on neglect! I recently rode mine to Phoenix from Anaheim and averaged 85 mph. Ya, averaged. We rode like teenagers all the way there. And had my brand new Super bike chain not been defective, it would have been incident free.

Got home, washed it, changed the oil (bought a new chain in Glendale, AZ) swapped out the spark plugs and it was done. Granted, there are some things Ive done to rugged-ize the bike. But its electrical stuff, relay mod etc.

This is why I keep it. I took this pic Saturday afternoon while I was at Cook's Corner.

Because I like to work on my bikes.......tinkering is my drug!
And when I ride the newer bikes around I'm just a drone that no one notices........but when I ride the 900F to work I don't think I've ever had a day when someone doesn't stop to say....."Cool bike!!!".

I just like the bike. Haven't raced anyone yet and yes my buddy with cbr1000r smokes my ass but I've wanted one of these ever since I saw my first on when I was about 14. I now have one that is pretty much stock other than the cbr coil upgrade and K&N filter. Yes its heavy and sits a bit tall but It fits me good and its only got 17000 miles on it. It was garage kept before I bought it and had set for about 4yrs before I got it. I would now ride it accross the country without even thinking twice. Like many others have said ""If you have to ask this ? you don't understand"Its just a F thing. By the way I owned a SOHC 750 as well, and I promise a 250Ninja would not take that bike in a straight line. Maybe the curves. My 79 750f treats me good and is well behaved. I change the oil and keep good tires on it. Keep the chin lubed and adjust valves as needed. It good to me and provides me enjoyment.

I have looked at other bikes over the years but have never found one better then my 900F. Yes better technology etc. but I always stayed with that bike. I even considered trading it in on an 1100F when they came out but didn't like the fairing look. I am glad I never sold it.

I can sit back in a chair and look at one of these for an hour and still not be bored, and that's saying something.

Not the fastest at all but one of the best flowing designs I've ever seen. I absolutely love that square tail from the rear when it is stuck up some in the air with the rear fender trimmed back a bit, it reminds me of past girlfriends. I may be messed up but I still know what I like.............

My BMW blew up. German rubbish, it's only done 160,000 miles pulling a big sidecar.
So I needed a bike and an F came up at the right time, at the right price, so I bought it.

Now I'm stuck with it.
I've invested so much of my time and limited finances in it I can't afford to not keep it.

Over and above all that, it's a great bike.
Sure I tinker with it frequently, because I like to, not because I have to.
It's fast enough to scare my licence to death (and I'm a truck driver, I need my licence to earn).
It handles well enough at the speeds I ride at, which ain't exactly hanging around.
I expect a modern sports bike will out perform it and out handle it, but the majority of modern bike riders can't use the 'extra' that a modern bike has, so I can at least 'keep in touch' with them. Usually they seem surprised that I'm still with them, cheeky sods.
It's got great styling n looks cool as hell, a darn sight better than these modern jelly mould crotch rockets, in my opinion.

I was gutted for you when that happened and I really though it would have broken you, would have me, but glad to see you are still around and considering getting it going again. Those floods were something we never want to see ever again

Its taken me over two years Norm, seeing certain things brought it all back, and my F was one of them. Pretty much everything I owned was either lost or badly damaged.
But life goes on and I am now in a position to start and try and repair some of my toy's, of course my bike has to be one of the first on the list!
Took the plunge two weeks ago when having a clean up, got it out to wash and I'm damned if I know what happened but before you know, it was stripped with the motor sitting on the ground!
Now I'm back on this site and the inspiration has flooded back! Probably cannot afford to do the things I would like to do to it but if I can just get it going that would be a start.

Why?
It's just the most good looking bike a can remember from my youth! I think it drives wonderfull, and yes.......... you have to work it when driving it through the curves of the Alpes or Ardennes, but then again: that is motorcycle driving as it was mend to. No ABS, No tracktion control no nothing, just your own steering art Laughing

And last but not least, you can do everything yourself at this bike, with the new motorcycles that's impossible or much to expensive Cool
