Thanks,
Actually, the carb bodies were soda blasted and then ultrasonic cleaned to help remove the soda. All fasteners were replaced with JIS equivalents. However, the yellow zinc fasteners on the CR carbs aren't quite standard since they have split lock washer double SEMS instead the of external lock double SEMS that are used on CRs. All brackets, starter rods and other hardware were re-plated. |

Rick, you can put the checkbook away for now since the CR33 and VM333 aren't for sale. However, I have several sets of CVs that will be available in the near future. |

I figured maybe they were soda blasted. They look great.
What chems do you use in the ultrasonic? Do you anodize any of your own stuff or buy it already prepared? ... I mean like some of the parts that are hard to get in any finish.
Very nice! |

Simply gorgeous.
What sort of clamps are the carbs held in? |

Those are K&L supply carb stands. They carbs are held in by expandable rubber plugs inserted into the engine side throats. They work great on the CRs and VMs but not so great on the CVs because the plugs interfere with the movement of the throttle plates. |

I only use a small amount of vinegar added to water in the ultrasonic. It helps to neutralize the soda. None of the parts are anodized. The yellow zinc is a chromate process and I do some but the CR hardware was only available in YZ.
I was going to do my own plating but the pricing at a local plating shop was too reasonable to pass up. I took the brackets, levers, throttle and choke shafts and misc. hardware from 7 carburetors and had them BZ plated for under $70. They didn't even lose a single part! |

I'm posting to this thread so it will be filed in "my post" section for later reference. This is considerably after this post was current, calendar time speaking.
Nice work, by the way.

I haven't used them yet. They are bagged up and sitting on the shelf waiting for me to get started on my two 1100 engine builds. I've been too busy making parts for everyone else. |
