This might offend the purists:

Who wouldn't ride it with a smile on their face though?

Nicely done. Wonder if the lower fairing still fits or goes on. Looks sort of unfinished without.
Wonder if it is an original R. Motor looks like F.

I have to say, I've seen many modded ones, but I've only ever liked the un-faired ones (other than the Sanctuary bikes).

The fairing line curve on the RC and RD is a real bleeder to get right when you match it up with different wheels and suspension. Sanctuary changed its crop and its angle (for steering geometry rather than aesthetics) and got the balance right. In my opinion, none of these have. Maybe its just a designer's eye, but none of them have managed to achieve harmony.

If you look at the design of the original, it all works together; harmony for want of a better description.

With the naked RB and very much the 750/900/1100F, the simpler lines, uncluttered with a big fairing, leave you fewer lead in/lead out angles and they work much better for it.

That's my 2 bob on the matter anyhow.

Very Happy

I did a quick photoshop a while back of one of the Santuary bikes to see how my build might look without the fairing .... it looks pretty decent IMO.

If you use a RC or RD upper and just leave the lower off, it looks terrible. Not only are the holes for the connectors godawful ugly, but the complete lines are crap.
Even on the RB, with the Hondaline upper, without the narrow lowers, it looks unfinished. My opinion.

I've seen a very nice French special somewhere, where they cut the fairing line to make it look much more like an RCB1000 and did a twin round headlamp conversion. The mounting holes were cut off (or filled??) and it looked much, much better for it. They had also added an airscoop which finished it off a treat.

Sometimes, though, you just can't gild a lilly!

Very Happy
