Anybody ever seen these rods?
They may just be modified stock rods? But I don't see the MA3 anywhere. They have been slightly polished and look to be peened?
Guess I will be splitting the cases and see what else is in here? The crank is stock so maybe some tranny mods?
They clearance the sleeves. Won't be much left once I do the windage windows.
Peace, Jim |

Hi Jim
Not stock rods, looks like the big end bolts have no head, threaded into the rod, and the beam looks parallel all the way up, liners are cut away as rod section is wider than stock

Thanks Keith,
I feel stupid now though. I was so excited to see different rods that I only looked for the MA3 and didn't even pay any attention to the bolts.
Now what to pull apart 1st??? The forks I just got or split these cases. I guess I'll do both and report back later.
Anybody know what brand these are? They don't look the same as the MTC rods I sold a couple years ago.
I love buying old race bikes!! You never know whats inside of them.

Or if I reply to both threads....
They most likely notched the bottom of the barrels to clear the aftermarket connecting rods. Those do not look like Honda rods....Here are stock 1100 Honda rods...Notice the wrist pin end where your aftermarket rods have a circular support for the wrist pin and the stock rods have a small tab to (A) keep the piston centered ...or (B) support the downward load the combustion places on the pin.

Looks like they notched the liners a lot more than the rods would require.
Maybe the build plan was to increase the stroke using offset ground journals
and rods undersized on the big end? Who knows, you might find a really
nicely worked crank in there.
Either way, great deal on the motor!

Anyone got an 1100 engine with some forged pistons and rods in it they don't know about? |

Not sure if they are Carrillo, the area around the wrist pin doesn't like their standard design. Maybe a custom CROWER rod? |
