The Hardest part that I have EVER tried to replicate!!

Believe it or not.

The front part of the AHM style fender brace/fork brace is the hardest thing that I have ever tried to make more then one of. I apologize
to the 4 member's who are waiting for them but they have been KICKING my ASS! I probably will never make any more after the five that I'm doing right now?

It took many failed attempts to figure out a method and I have at least 4 days into getting one that I'm sort of happy with. I'm picky and so are most of my customers. Sorry for the wait! Rolling Eyes

These ones are in various stages of Failed attempts.

Here is the one for 70rsss. He has made one in the past and asked me to make just the front curved piece for his Pit Bike. I think he understands the difficulty? They like to crack at the weld when I sand them down smooth. I have tried many different ways but it's just so thin that it cracks. Twisted Evil

I ended up welding this on the inside as well as the bottom outside. The inside weld after sanding makes the part look more like the one that AHM made for the factory bikes. It was a pressed part with NO weld. If I can figure out how to make the die? I will make them that way in the future.

Brent yours is up next, Victorpeters, Freddie19 and mine. I won't do anything else until these are done. Victors will be very hard as he has a curved part for the bottom of the fork brace.

Please be patient. I'm doing the best I can to make a nice part worthy of the bikes they are going on.

Jim, I appreciate your work, it always looks superb but one off fabrication is always so difficult, particularly if you are trying to replicate something. Not being picky, just sympathetic

Your welcome Scott and thanks for the support Norm.

I was able to use one of the mess ups and finish a second one today. I will hone my welding on the next 3 and then try welding these to the center folded piece's. I'm fairly nervous about Victors. He has made his a bit different then my rendition of the fender brace. I'll show more tomorrow. Will have to make the journey into Portland and get some more welding gas. I hate driving or leaving my shop for that matter. Waaaa! LOL

What if you brazed them together instead of tig?

You can. It's tough though. I find it much easier to tig. Better heat control. Too hot and it just disappears.........

Thank you Jim for the time and effort you put into these and my bike.
If you pull this part of it will be the crown of my build..... And yours. There will be a lot of JesBuilt part on it 😄
I can't understand why AHM made the brace the way they did. Way to complicated for a fender brace. Seems more logical if the curved part is a chopped part from something else.
BUT way cool.... If you have a Spencer rep you have to have one 😄👍
