HI, I purchased a 1981 Honda cb900f, It looks like it has been neglected and had a hard life. According to the documation I got with this bike, It has a Kaz Yoshima, Ontario moto tech 1002cc piston kit in it. The #2 cylinder has allmost no compression. It also has Mikuni vm33 carburators in some rotton, poor fitting mikuni intake manifolds. My quistions are:Can I still get parts for this engine kit (gaskets ,rings etc)? What intake manifolds should I get? I sure would like to talk to someone knowlageable about this engine, I don`t have much computer time or skills. I might be interested in selling this engine or possably trade it for a good running one. Ill check back on this website, but anyone can call me anytime at 701-650-0003 Thankyou! Steve LATER Eichele

any parts for that are probably "unobtainium" now.
find your compression leak (valves ?) first. head
gasket : CB 1000C should work if you have to go
that far. some pics would be helpful !

Have a look at the bike that member 'StoutBlock' put together. It had an OMT engine in it and is one of a VERY limited few that are out there it seems.

I'd love to see some pics, too. We all would. This forum thrives on pictures.

Good luck. I'd be interested to see what you can find out. I've tried to Google Kaz Yoshima and OMT, but the internet doesn't seem to have much.

Cheers from Toronto.

Thanks for the quick response, Idid'nt think of cb1000c headgasket. The bike is in storage as we speak, Thinking about getting into it this winter. Possably run stock carbs and manifolds for awhile. I'm more interested in having a well running bike, then a racer, at this time. I too have Googled Kaz Yoshima & OMT, and read it all, including the info in this great site. Hope to get a friend to help me post pix. Again Thanks!

I bought a nice set of OMT 1002cc piston off of ebay from a member a while back. I was able to order rings by ID, OD and thickness from Total Seal.

Kaz built our endurance motor for us back in 82 and a couple of weeks later sent us a hand bent pipe. Check the REPLICATING WERA CHAMP BIKE post on page 2 of this forum.

Honda touted the fact that we ran the whole endurance season without tearing down the engine. They had a two page ad in Cycle News (featuring the new 1100f) using our team name after they refused to help us in any way during the season. I threatened to sue - and they ended up giving me a new 1100f to cool me off . That was thirty years ago and as I write this the hair is standing up on the back of my neck - ass holes!

Kaz and OMT were really good to us - good luck with your build!

Keep F'n around!

I have two OMT 1100's.

One a street bike, the other a race bike of similar vintage/era to Hacksaw's.

Parts for OMT engine's may as well be RSC/AHMco parts.
They're that rare.
As others mentioned, sources do exist for things like rings and valves, so it really is a non-issue.

Kaz is a genius and was also able to make mid '70's (the original) CB400F's absolutely rip. I had one and with his stage III top end, Carrillo rods and a 498cc kit, it would run with Open class bikes (Z1's)

Two very knowledgeable individuals on twin cam Hondas are Vic Fasola and Chris Birkle of Gainsville, GA just outside the gates of Road Atlanta.
Not sure if Vic is still doing work...

Chris of course is (Racing Sport Services) and is very approachable.

HTH,

DH

Vic is still around - Mike at the Ducati / Triumph shop in Augusta knows how to get in touch with him.

Got a really low mileage 1100 motor from Mike a while back that setting at Cris's shop ( Racing Sport Services) - He gave me a price on a monster build - cubic dollars is the only thing holding me back - Plus the motor in the WERA Champ bike is running great.

Delta - we need to get together for a beer sometime - my treat!

The OMT bike I bought from Stout is an 1125 Stage III+ Monster build. Everything in the catalog was thrown in it back in '83. It's a beast!

How is the old girl doing these days? Although I would hate to go into that engine, because Kaz was the last person to touch it, it would be great to do a tensioner upgrade on it...
