How comfortable is your F?

Hey everyone, Im currently thinking of switching around my riding position. Currently i have clip ons and a corbin seat. Im about 5 10 and its quite a reach for me and if i give any good amount of power from a stop im sliding to the back of the seat pretty quick if i dont have my feet on the pegs. Also im looking for a bit more comfort/upright riding. That being said, im looking into a new handle bar set up more like the stock handle bars and possibly adding some cushion to the seat. What are your set ups?

Stock - unless its a short ride - meaning under 1 hour...i take a car. lol Im 44 and my back and wrists start to hurt after more than 1 hour.

Don't ask me it sounds like I have pretty much the same set up gxsr front end with clip ons a Corbin gunfighter seat and a set of 1100 lattice rear set plates with tarozzi rear sets. I am all 5'4" and it is a very comfortable ride for me anyway.

A daily ride can go upwards of 200 miles and I am very comfortable. Stock seat, handlebars and rear sets

Ive got my 1100 bars adjusted to almost flat, laid back a bit for a little less reach, but other than that, Im good for 300 miles a day, no problem.

Stock seat, handlebars, and footpegs on my 1100F and I can ride all day no problem. It amazes me that the seat is more comfy than my Vulcan.

I'm 6'3" and I did a number of things to be able to tolerate long rides. I added one inch of foam to the seat (there is an excellent website with step by step directions on seat mods), moved the pegs to the lower engine bolt (gained about an inch down and forward). My 1979 F750 had low/narrow bars so I swapped to a set off a 1981 900F. Finally, I had some extra seat rubber mounts off a 750 K1 restore. I sectioned the vertical height in half, whittled the mounting pegs to fit into the existing rubbers (cut off one lug) and used spray adhesive to attach them to the old seat rubbers. Gained about 2 1/2" in leg room in total. I wouldn't mind the bars a bit further back but I don't want the bike to look like a chopper!

I can't imagine anyone calling the stock seat comfortable. I'm in major discomfort in less than an hour. At about the 4 hour mark, you are so used to the pain it doesn't matter anymore. Aftert 8 hours, I walk into the house needing an arse massage.

I took off my stock set and replaced it with a TRAVELCADE seat, it has better cushioning and about 3/4 of an inch in height. Also have the handle bars from from my 72 750 SOHC. A little taller and about 2 inches wider. I'm 6'3'' tall and need every inch.

this might sound strange, but I cut my stock seat
down and had it re-covered at Sargents. I used the
GP touring bend handlebars (pull back 6 1/2") and
the Honda rearsets. I am 5'9" and it fits perfectly !
believe it or not, the cut down seat is much more
comfy than stock ! all that have ridden it agree
that everything fits ! for pics,see ss pics, Bobcat's

Ok, think il get another top to the 900 triple and put some decent handle bars on. i think that would be the best remedy to my comfort issue.

With a sport kit and a slightly lowered (and widened) seat from Sargent,
I find mine very comfortable. All day rides are no problem. The only thing
that detracts from the comfort is wind blast, but that's part of the deal
with a standard bike.

I have a cut down seat, standard pegs and a set of "supersport" bars and I am incredibly comfortable for long rides. I'm 5' 11"

The original OEM seat on my 900 is pure torture while the OEM (but not original) seat on my 1100 (pretty sure it's from a 900) is much better. Not sure why as they look identical (but the 1100 seat is in better shape). I'm going to recover the 900 seat this winter with a replica seat cover.

Yo, hey Bob, are you sure about that 6 1/2" pullback on GP bars? I'm thinking 2 1/2" pullback on my euro-bend bars, prob about the same...eh?

Anyway, I'm running the euro bars, cut down seat and lattice rear sets and I can ride all day and no fatigue or cramps.

btw, I'm 5'8"

I just have superbike bars so I get some weight off my arse (which cures most seat problems) and I am good for 12 hour days. Also a smaller windscreen to still allow some wind to take weight off the arms a bit.

I'm ~6' have stock bars and a older Corbin seat, have some highway pegs on the crash bars when I need to stretch out and a small windshield when needed. Bike it fairly comfortable to the point I have done an Iron Butt on it (1k, 24hrs).

I ride my 1100-F stock everywhere. I'm 6' and 195lbs. 63-years old. Not much I would want to change.

Rode it 4,000 mi. in 17 days to Calif. and back to Oklahoma a few years ago. Coming home across Nevada's Desolation Highway I was toying with a few ideas as to how to shorten the bars a bit. Once home, forgot about it.

Apparently the stock 1100F seat is more comfortable than a stock 900F seat. If I drove my 900F 4,000 miles in 17 days I wouldn't be able to walk.

One 1100 has stock seat and Speigler Low Superbike alloy bars and it's a dream. I don't ride long distances tho', but can easily do 150-200 mile local rides.

Other bike is an OMT engined 1100 Superbike that has a cut seat like old AHM race bikes and K&N Superbike bars and its even more comfy to me.

In my opinion, these twin cam Hondas are to long and too heavy for clip ons and clubman bars.

There's a reason why those that raced these things back in the day ran wide superbike bars and NOT clip-ons. Ya needs the leverage to wrestle these beasts !!

Stock 900F here,I re-covered my seat last winter and the foam "looked" in great shape so I left it alone.Probably one of the worst mistakes I've made.This summer it just seemed to collapse and get really weak.Wish I would have beefed it up or figured out a way to put in a gel insert.

I may try a pad first but after a couple hours I'm in pain and moving around.I'm only 5'8" so I like the stock set-up.

For my day-to-day riding (1100F), I find the regular Corbin seat (stock bars and footpegs) very comfortable. I am 6' and 210 lbs. For longer rides, I add a gel pad (from HD!) to help prevent butt sores. With that combo, I can ride all day getting just a bit sore by evening, but with full recovery during the night, ready for the next day's mileage. I can keep that up forever.

Corbin will accommodate a short-legged rider. Next time you order a replacement, just tell them how far forward you want the rider to be moved from the stock Corbin, and they will build the foam insides to meet your spec. I think there is no added charge for doing this on a new order.
