without seeing what really started the interaction, it kind of looked like the bikes were brake checking the SUV at the begining. It might have been an attempt to get the guy to slow down so all of the bikes could get around him, hard to tell.

I would have done the same thing as the land rover - if I was not being an ass and did something to provoke it...however a mob of bikers forcing me to stop on the highway trying to get into my car with my 5 month baby in the back...plow city.

We , at least I don't know what transpired before the video starts, but If you watch at the very first part of the video it shows the RangeRover driver running up and over a biker , maybe that is why he bought a big suv . TV reports that the biker has 2 broken legs . What the bikers did is not acceptable but neither is running over a biker acceptable .

I'm with you guys. I want to see what spawned this interaction to begin with. Even though the majority of these bike groups are full of meat-headed showoffs, this driver had to of done something to start it.

Now if there's a car acting crazy, why the hell would you want to mess with it on a bike. That's like a bull dozer moving sheep. Just get the persons plate and let the authorities take care of the rest.

Until we see footage of what caused all this, no one will know what happened for sure.

A hand full of buck shot or bb's thrown at the windshield would have been very effective. Funny thing though this never made the news . Un less i missed it.

But it looks as though all the SUV needed to do was slow down and let all pass . No harm no foul but sometimes there are a holes behind the wheel. But the guy with the camera should have hung back to get the complete beginning of the incursion.

Moral of the story don't fuck with guys on bike specially when there are 40 + bikes . It is not going to turn out good for the cager.

We are seeing the edited video the rider wanted us to see. Why cut the beginning and end?

It's pretty clear to me that the bikers were not driving very safely. I think it's fair to say that the bikes were swarming like a hive of angry bees as opposed to the ordered 2x2 formations that a group like ours might maintain. The guy that ended up getting hit initially was in the SUV's lane before passing him, and being surrounded by 40+ bikes is pretty overwhelming, so to brake in front of the SUV like that was just plain foolish or intentionally malicious. It is easy to interpret actions made because someone (cager) who is afraid as aggressive. Fear is generally irrational and causes that SUV to wreak havoc. Not to mention the fact that the 40 angry bikers would not have maintained their civility, either (and the article says the bikers started attacking his car immediately after the first guy got bumped).

Our NE ride was in a similar scenario once: We all got on the high way together (about 30 bikes) and happened to surround a car as we were merging. He ended up almost hitting a bunch of us trying to get over to an exit. It was scary for everyone but our "mob" saw it as an attack, when in reality it probably (I don't know for sure) wasn't.

I know I do stuff in a group that I don't do when riding alone. I am a little faster, more aggressive and rules of the road tend to tip in the favor of "suggestions"

I see this as more of a cautionary tale for our groups. It is easy to lose a sense of responsibility in a large mob, its up to the individuals to maintain their sense of the road.

I have no idea what started the fracas above, but for the love of God, if I have people wanting to get around me, I move the fuck over pronto. We've had plenty of people do that on our rides. These are courteous people. Now would I be scared if I ran over a biker in a group like that? Probably. But running over a few more to get away would not be an option. What if this car was stolen or the owner claims it was? Fuck that, I follow that asshole until I run out of gas. And I would do whatever I had to to end up with the keys.

I've been on the other side of this too! Ever get chased by an EXTREMELY furious driver in a car Shocked ? I was 18 with a girlfriend on the back of a 650 yamaha twin Razz , no rocket mind you. We flipped him off after he barreled out of his driveway and locking them up in the middle of the road. We and two other riders all had to lock them up to not hit this asshole. Not sure exactly what set him off before he left home but he obviously felt running our asses over was going to make him feel better! The chase lasted a good ten minutes through crowded neighborhoods, gas stations, over lawns!! I'd see his car completely sideways at points and I could not shake him! Thirty years ago and I remember it like yesterday! Pulling over was not an option as I'm sure we would have been under his car. Very exciting!

I didn't see the beginning or the end of this whole deal , so I am not going to say I would run over the bikers without knowing more . We have another Martin / Zimmerman going on again . Pass judgement before all the facts are known ? Right now I think BOTH sides have culpability in this story . Do the police know more than us ? they charged a biker but didn't charge the cagier for running over at least 3 bikes and riders , one of whom is in a coma ? The driver walked out of the hospital after being treated. Neither side has clean hands .

What I want to know is where we're the cell phones that chase lasted for a good 3 exits on the HH and then off to side streets. Also all the cager had to do was move over and let the bikes pass and third if the driver in the car would have called 911 and stayed on the HH the cops would have shown up and nothing more would have happened. I believe 1 yes the bikes did intimidate 2 either man or women should have call 911 ASAP and 3 driver should have not stopped cage should have stayed moving. There is more to it than what the driver of the SUV is saying. Maybe he said I am not going to let these asaholes pass me.

I agree...this is bullshit and is edited to shift opinion....
As I said in the other thread.....both parties are at fault here.....
The crowded the Rover.....something caused that....Rover driver gets nervous and tapped asshole biker who was LOOKING
BACK at him.....like he wanted to get hit....
The whole story is and never will be here.....
The 26 yo guy who got run over is in a coma though.....probably medically induced for him to heal internal wounds.
They should all go to jail....including the father.

This made the evening news here in Western Australia,I had already seen the video over in The Great beyond yesterday but the headline screamed "200 bikers in road rage incident" and showed the guy with the helmet smashing the window, then eventually went back to the beginning to show the dickhead in the rangey hitting the guy in the arse that started it all. With all the stuff we hear in the media about guns in the U.S.,I was very surprised no-one pulled a gun on the dickhead driver, not necessarily to shoot him but to hold him.
Yes this dickhead was probably scared as he had just knocked someone off his bike and being surrounded by "an army"of motorcyclists, but to panic and drive over another group of bikes to try and get away not caring about how many more he injures, not once but twice,I believe he got off very lightly. But as usual the bike riders will probably get the most serious charges and the dickhead will get a slap on the wrist.

Chris.

The rover driver did not knock the first guy off, just nudged his back wheel by accident. The rider stayed on and his action (not the drivers) are what set it all off.

I think the driver had no reasonable way to move to the right as the bikes were flowing round him on both sides. He may have been trying to do the safest thing and stay in his lane and be predictable. Why the clown who got nudged, pulled in very close and then braked sharply is known only to him.

Driver does the right thing and stops to sort it out but then mob rule takes over and they attack his car. What options does one man have versus dozens? Deciding to drive out of danger may be unpleasant but it is a viable option. The driver has not committed an offence other than to somehow annoy a group of riders. The riders are responsible for escalating it into a life threatening situation. He ran over the bikers as they attacked him (and his wife and child) it is as simple as that.

Where did you get all this info , or is this just assumptions ? You have seen video of EVERYTHING that happened before the Bump ? Without seeing anything before the Bump you are just speculating as to what happened .

fight or flight...with 100 bikers around me wanting to kick my ass because someone got there feelings hurt on the highway (pride and ego)?? - flight = plow city!!

ask the guy who is now no longer able to walk if this whole thing was worth it? wonder if he would get off his bike again on a highway? I would say not.

Commit attempted vehicular manslaughter by escaping a crime? The SUV driver did the first crime with no real damage and decided to not stop therefore leaving the scene. Then rest of the bikers tried to catch the guy for the cops who were at the donut shop and could not be bothered. Tough shit the guy in the SUV needs to be in jail for about 20 yrs.

From the video only, it looks like a car jacking to me... If they wanted to pass why were they all around him?? I think the suv ran over the guy after his tires were cut.. That's enough for me..

Wrong - watch the video instead of rattling off bigoted rantings. The driver does stop after contacting the bike. Gets attacked by the bikers (criminal mob). Drives off to protect family and self.
SUV driver committed no "crime". There was a minor traffic incident caused directly by the reckless behaviour of the rider of the white bike. The driver was trying to escape a serious assault and a review by the police has backed his side of the events.

The riders did not set out to catch him for the cops, they were a vigilante mob - which are not known to respect the rule of law.

The more I watch the video, the more it appears the sudden braking to have been a deliberate action by the rider.

I blame the bikers for just not going around the driver, he had no where to go by the time the guy pulled up along (just to wish a nice day I'm sure) and pulled in front and caused the bump to occur. Looks like everyone was stopped so I have to guess the driver was threatened and flight or fight took over and flight won.

In this case my sympathies are with the driver, not the bikers.
