I will not be in town for the spring ride, so even if the bike is ready, I won't be able to go.

Does anyone know where that piece of rubber comes from?

That's simple. It's off the bottom of a spark plug cap.

Ok, more progress today.

With the help of PGSmick, we got the engine in the frame today, finalized all wiring and tighten all the bolts!

It is always a stressful moment when you hit the starter for the first time with the ignition switched on. Well it fired right up!
The jetting on the Mikuni RS 34 is not perfect and it is not smooth all the way but tomorrow I will start looking into this.

For now, I am drinking a beer in celebration to this great event.

Thanks again to Pete for spending the whole day working with me on the bike.

Ok, I've been lazy.... In fact I was entertaining one of my other passion: sailing

Image

Image

Ok back to the bike now!

I was not satisfied with the build, so I decided to make some mods.
Coming up:
- relocated shock mounts
- CBR wheels
- GS swingarm
- new cams
- plus plenty of little other things... Twisted Evil

I'll update as measure.

But for now, here's the current state of the bike in my... living room (girls love it):

Cheers,

Sly

Ok, finally had some time to work on it this weekend. Was too busy with the car and the gf.

Finished the shock relocation, got the frame powder coated, installed new forks and wheels, installed dyna with 2.2 ohm coils, aligned wheels, and assembled everything together.

Image

The engine was sleeping for over a year and happily started right up!

Left to do before test drive:
Rear brake stay
Align sprockets
Bleed brakes
Dash indicator (trailtech Vapor)
Hot start fix by PGSmick

All for now

Sly

Thanks!

These are F3 forks, damping and compression adjustable. Pretty easy swap if you're willing to use an aftermarket speedo sensor.

Ok, slowing down here...

Nothing bad, my hand is completely fine, luckily... could have been much much worse. My pride is the most damaged in this story. Premium stupidity, could not find a clamp in the machine shop. ALWAYS use a clamp with power tools!!!!!

Ok, enough of being lazy, and back to work!

Installed rear light bracket, rear light and turn signals

Image

Installed indicator bracket and indicator

Image

And finally discovered a hairline crack in the oil pan Sad
Need a new oil pan...

Getting there...

OK, Finally done 99% with the built! Finished her yesterday, got it inspected today and got an awesome ride this afternoon with my friend Michael on his BMW R1100.

Image

Left to be done: carbs jetting and an 1100R alternator, and that's it!

I'll post better quality pictures and details soon.

Cheers

Sly

OK, here are some more details:

First the specs:
- 1123 Wiseco big bore kit (fully rebuilt as shown in this thread)
- Mikuni 34mm
- SS Supertrapp exhaust
- Relocated rear shock mounts
- CBR600F3 front suspension and brakes
- EBC front rotors
- Rear Ohlins shocks
- GS1100 swingarm (see below for details on chain slider)
- Euro 1100F foot plates
- Euro controls with CRG levers
- Hot start fix (by PGSmick)
- CBR starter clutch
- Dyna ignition with 2.2ohm coils
- Trailtech Vapor dash indicator
- coming up: 1100R alternator and custom ignition cover (AHM)

Didn't get a chance to rev her up much since the engine is all rebuilt. Can't wait for that, she has lots of torque!

Image

About the chain slider, this is what we ended up doing (big thanks to my friend Michael for the help):

Beautiful bike, G.
Just curious as to why you trimmed the front fender.
Also. any chance your friend kept a template of the chain slider? I have one of those arms on a CBX and have been worried about chain clearance.

Thanks!

I trimmed the front fender (from a 95 VFR) because it was not perfectly lined up with the wheel and was awfully close to the tire on one side (approx 1mm). Will get another one and align it properly but for now really wanted to ride the beast .. so I trimmed it!

Unfortunately, we made the slider without any template just by following the swingarm profile and marking the slider material. My friend Michael has a little milling machine that was really handy in making the slider. It is made of delrin, which in this dimension is way cheaper than teflon.

Cheers,

Sly

Thanks for the good words Ivan.

The rear wheel spacers are exactly the same as if you were doing the rear F3 wheel conversion on a 1100F swingarm:
http://www.cb1100f.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=45694
http://www.cb1100f.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=20737

Pivot spacers... did not measure precisely. On this build, to save time and money, I used large stainless steel shims of various thickness (that's the way they come at the hardware store) and stacked them both left and right side to align the rear wheel. It's very easy and once compressed in between the frame by the axle, no difference with a solid spacer. Next time I drop the swingarm, I'll measure and post the values.

In any case, I would never recommend taking "standard" spacers dimensions from anyone, but doing it yourself. This way, you know it's right!

Cheers,

Sly
