Yah I'm pretty sure I only paid $40-50 for two tires mounted & balanced when I did the Avons. That was wheels off the bike.

$25 for the tire change and balancing, if I bring the wheel in. The Honda dealer in Freeport (thank G-d they're out of business) charged me $135! Yes, to change a tire... MY tire!

If they have a No-Mar tire changer or something similar, (http://www.nomartirechanger.com/Default.asp) they can have the old tire off, new one on, and balanced in about 15 minutes per wheel. Understanding that a shop needs to pay for insurance, rent, labor, electricity, water, etc., I guess I can understand why they might want to charge an hour's labor. If you can get a half hour's labor charge for two tires, it's a very fair deal.

$27.00 per wheel off the bike at a local shop. Two years ago, they only charged $17.00.

$30 per wheel here the last time I had it done and that was at the place where I purchased the tires which I thought was goofy. That was before I figured out I could do it myself (using rim protectors and including balancing) quicker than driving them down to the shop, waiting for the change (or coming back to pick up) and driving back. It's really not very hard to DIY. Now I pay half as much for tires, with free install and balancing (me Smile) and it takes less time.
