The granite is nice to lay out sheet metal with too, using a height gauge to lay out the lines and hold .010" without a problem.

Well here I am again. I have went full circle in 6 years. I had been working on this shop in 06 and had two rooms in it done. Now I'm moving back and need to finish off the 3rd room. Lucky for me my concrete buddy still owed me on a trade deal so the labor was free and I end up with nice concrete instead of how it looks when I do it. LOL

I have a lot to do in the next few weeks. Trying to get some of the last parts out the door and packing up and moving all at the same time SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every time I turn around something that I need has already been packed up and is already at the new/old place.
I know sing me the blues. Very Happy

Peace, Jim

Hey guy's, Pretty stoked to say the least!

I had bid on a 3ft set of sheet metal slip rolls last week and looked at a CNC Milling machine. I was the high bidder on the slip rolls and nobody bid on the mill because the schools opening price was way to high. I offered them $700.00 for the mill and they took it. Shocked

I will have to rearrange the shop to fit the two new tools. Won't have it until next week and will have to learn many things to be able to use it but for $700.00 I can learn.

Will post pics after it's in the shop and hooked up.

It was a great day.

Peace, Jim

Great news all around Jim - congrats on your newest shop addition. Can't wait to see what you turn out with that new mill. Best of luck with the installation and please keep us posted.

Tom

Got the CNC mill and the slip roll's in the shop yesterday.

The mill was easy but I was so excited to get the mill in the shop that I forgot to unload the slip rolls with the hoist that's in the shop first. Ounce the mill was in I had no pickup access to the slip rolls that weigh close to 400lb.s. Getting them out of the pickup and onto the ground was a major task and my back is not liking me today.

I have a saying that "If it's anything is hard to do? Step back and look again!) I didn't follow the golden rule what a dumb ass. It happens Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I had to remove the motor from the mill to fit in the door. The belt on the motor needs to be timed or something like this but I don't know the steps to do so? Will be on Youtube and figure it out before I can fire it up and see if it runs? I'm sure the mill part is fine but the '86 model Allen Bradley controls may be a different story? If there are any problems with the control system? I will probably part out the controller and retro fit on a new up to date control system. They don't make new boards for these anymore and some of the bigger boards in this thing go for $1500.00 used. Not worth replacing IMO.

Time will tell.

The 36" Pexto slip rolls. Very happy to have these.

The mill and archaic control system.

This is why I'm scared of the control system! Shocked

Then there are about 10 other boards in the monitor/control key board section as well. So complicated that it would eat days up trouble shooting (if bad) and the guys that work on them get more in one day then I make all month so that's not an option. A little intimidating to say the least.

Peace, Jim

Wow I forgot about this thread. Didn't know anyone was still looking at it.

Thank you for the compliment. Its quite a bit further now. I still don't have the CNC mill up and running 100%. I bought all new controls and had them installed. It runs but needs some more TLC before I use it. I also got a waterjet machine and have been working on getting my bigger building ready to hold it. It all takes time and I don't have much of that.

Peace, Jim
