WHO has the new clutch basket rubbers in his cb bike?

Sold many sets last year.
How are the bikes running with the modified clutch baskets?
I,m a bit curious guys.

The 4x1100s (2f and 2R) are running strongly and smoothly !
No problem at all and no more noise from the clutch basket !!

Just ordered a set of rubbers and have removed the clutch basket in preporation. The original rubbers look like they are not ment to be removed.
Do you grind of the pinbolts holding them in?

Your set is shipped Adam.
In the set is a installation instruction with photo,s
And yes you have to grind the heads away and push them out.

Adam, I'm a mechanical dunce and even I managed to do it. Very simple, honestly. Haven't got mine finished to fire up yet but expecting the usual Wout brilliance.

Just one question, do you junk the locking washer behind the main nut. I've read some where that it is not needed?

Put them on my CB1100F earlier this year and they make all the difference in the world. Quiet, no chatter and engage/disengage is much, much smoother.

I recommend them.

Received the clutch rubber set this morning, have fitted them to my bike, thanks, will be interesting to fire it up and here the difference.

I am curious to learn more about replacing my clutch rubbers...

How much is a set with shipping (approx is ok) to USA, New York state?

Can you give me a quick idea what it takes to replace the rubbers? I assume clutch cover off, but then what? I've never disassembled my clutch up to this point.

Also, how does this update co-exist with the replacement 'pusher' part that I've been reading about for the 1100F?

Keep in mind we also installed the modified pusher at the same time, Rog. Relatively easy to install once the basket is off the motor. I recommend both modifications.

OK Guys,

Gotta ask this question...

I have a set of the replacement rubbers for the 1100F clutch and I've taken the clutch cover off so as to remove the clutch basket. No problem there.

How are you guys removing the clutch basket?

I see that in the service manual there are pictures of a 'clutch center holder' and 'locknut wrench'... special tools to keep the clutch from turning and a special wrench to turn the locknut (after moving one of the lock tabs).

Do I have to fabricate the holder? Any other tools that I can use to turn the locknut?

You do not need the holder if you have a good 1/2" air impact. Basically just hold the basket with your hand.

You do need the special spanner socket. If you can get it apart with a hammer and punch it was not tight and this makes problems. The entire center needs to solid out,ie no play at the inner.

I prefer discarding the stupid multi tab locking deal because simply if its tight is not needed and the bellville washer is a locking washer. If it worrys you a drop of Red Loctite is not going anywhere. It is exactly like tightening lug nuts on a car they stop turning and why I use an impact and have done it this way for 20+ years.

Book uses a spline shaped deal with a handle to hold the trasmission shaft and the special 4 tab socket for the nut.

Your deal was the cheapest price I've seen for the special socket. I've bought that 3/8" drive one just to carry in the tool box. My primary tool is double ended small one on one end and the large one on the other with a 1/2" sq drive in the center. From back in the old step through 50cc till now you just cannot work on one of these without that stupid 4 tab socket. They used to put in on a little short handled "T" wrench which took about 10 minutes to decide to weld it on to an old 1/2" socket and use an impact. Now you can buy them easily and even easier on E-Bay.

Wout, recieved my modified basket and steel plates today. Still cold here, so it will be a while before I install and get a chance to ride. Very fast shipping. Nice basket, I have a zl1 clutch band to install on it. A new pusher and friction plates. Thanks again. Nick

I installed your clutch rubber kit in my CB1100F and I am THRILLED with the results. The clutch is so quiet that I now only hear the valvetrain and my .005" adjusted valves. This repair should be put on the must do list for all of our bikes when it is time to recondition the clutch. Thanks again.

I just pulled my clutch and there are no rubbers, nor do I see them in the manual.

more than I would wnat to try.

For got the proper term for it, I think it is interference fit. i know it is more then a press fit, but it would seem to me that one could heat the basket and cool the back plate and then press the plate out with resorting to drillng

Thanks for your update Dave Very Happy

I have the sets in almost all my F and R bikes and i,m loving this modification very much myself.
The bikes are running like new when you adjust the valves and synchronize your carbs.

I have more complete clutch modification sets for sale right now.

I installed the rubbers last week just before the NorthEast ride. Nice upgrade, quiet, tight, easy to do, The only requirement is a tap with a smaller diameter shank as compared to the cutting surface so you can cut long threads. It rattled like crazy before the upgrade. Now it is perfection. Very Happy

You'll need one of these and a new clutch cover gasket, if you use one, or more case sealer:

That socket is plenty tough; I've hammered the hell out of mine with my 1/2" drive Blue Point air impact driver (with a 3/8" socket adapter) set at full power with 130 PSI of air. I remove the star locknut and just use the bellville washer, just like Bill (sonicrete) recommends. And I just use the air impact driver to install the nut and hammer it down tight. Don't try that with that star tabbed washer on it though, it will mangle the washer like it's made of putty. Laughing

BTW...

While you have the clutch basket out, it's also a good time to do the shifter window mod if you need it. If you don't have any difficulty with false neutrals during normal shifting, you don't need the shifter window mod so disregard. One of those things that's best not to do unless it's a problem acting up... If it works... don't "fix" it.

Installed in my 11F and and clutch is amazing. Still have some primary noise, have to sync the carbs, but I am sure I have no more clutch rattle, would recommend to all. Installation was a breeze, took me less than an hour.
