Hi all, I have found a few posts but have not found what im looking for,

I was looking to powder coat my bike but Im a bit of a tight ass and was wondering if anyone has found any decent
rattle can paints that do a decent job on their frame.

The only stuff I have found that claims to be tough is this high temp engine paint they have it in both gloss and flat black at bunnings and supercheap auto. I have not looked at autobahn yet but if anyone has any other places to suggest im all ears.

I painted up a test "kick stand" with some dulux industrial metalshield but even though it looked good it was easily scratched and Its not exactly meant for bikes more just your metal front gate etc

VHT makes a brake caliper paint that contains ceramic that has very good abrasion and chemical resistance. However to take full potential of it's properties you would need to bake it after applied in a large oven. I used it on my frame "as sprayed" without baking, and also on my engine cases, block, head, and covers and it seems to be holding up quite well.

I've seen this one stage epoxy paint designed for roll bars and frames at the local auto parts store. It comes in Gloss black and Semi-gloss. Never used it. If I was inclined to touch something up, I would try this.

I've found epoxy paint to be very durable. POR-15 has a semi-gloss paint that is intended to cover POR-15 rust paint. It is extremely durable and will survive hits with a hammer. Not cheap though and is a brush on application.

Indison is in OZ. I'm sure he's looking for paint in his country.

I recently painted part of the frame when I swapped the pipes on my 750.....
That rollbar paint is the bomb! (No pun intended)

High gloss and dries durable....

PJ1 make a ver goos gloss epoxy black as well.

Krylon appliance epoxy is great stuff too!

They stock VHT here but I did not see that roll cage and chasis one Ill go back to the store and ask if they stock it, I got some white knight engine enamal that claims to be durable and holds up against heat up to 250 degC and resistant against oil I might save that for the engine itself and look for the VHT stuff Cheers guys!!!

supercheap down here have the roll bar stuff, and plenty of other VHT paints. As someone else suggested, I've used the caliper paint (in satin black) with great results on lots of parts. I've also got a few cans of the PJ1 engine paint from the states and it's very durable. Spilt lots of fuel on that particular motor and not a mark on it.

cheers

Let me just say that if you do it right....and get it all on before it drys you can achieve a high gloss
with the PJ1 stuff......I shot the frame on my CBX with it!

Epoxy appliance paint is almost as good as powder coat. It is really tough and not brittle. Really hard to chip or scratch.
