Recently this 1100 sold for $2000. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648&item=150842965625&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Yet this one in progress has been bid to $3850. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648&item=150846502219&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
Do the wheels and the signature make it THAT much more valuable? Don't get me wrong.............I am well aware of Freddie's legacy. I'm just curious about the huge difference in price.
I want to sell my blue 1100 and am trying to determine an asking price. I know I will not get back what I have in it, but is is very disheartening to see the first sell for only $2k.
Thanks guys.
Jim

You raise a good point - why the huge price difference? I suppose the autograph on the tank means something to some people. The biggest difference I see is the much lower mileage. Otherwise, there are a bunch of non-OEM parts on the more expensive bike that I would want to remove and replace.

These bikes don't seem to get what (we think) they're worth. Mine, with it's beautifully restored bodywork, many rebuilt parts, 150 powder coated pieces, etc. would probably be hard pressed to get that much money. But then I didn't restore it to sell.

Put some pictures of your bike up here, along with plenty of details. There are members who will give you an honest, fair idea of what to ask for it.

Looks to be a cleaner bike. The wheels are worth a bit. That is all I see but then now that we can no longer see who is bidding on an item, could be someone may be shell bidding to jack up the price. Also a different day may mean some buyers who are just getting into the game. Lots of possabilities.

From my perspective, the lower price of the two appears to be in need of quite a lot of clean up. Exhaust is rusty/chrome is pretty much shot, rust showing in many areas (swingarm, etc), not sure whats going on with the front brake hydraulics but clearly not stock, dent in the tank, cracked side cover, splits in seatcover, discoloration of paint on fuel tank, poor condition of paint finish on engine, all jump out immediately. The pics on the other bike are pretty low res, but it appears to be much cleaner. Add to that that the more expensive bike has 1/2 the mileage, comes with a set of boomerrangs in addition to the stock wheels, and you start to see some of the added value. The autograph, to me, would detract from the value, unless very good documentation is included to verify it is Freddie's autograph, and not some hack job. Even then, it would only add value IMHO to a collector, not for a bike that is going to be ridden.

YMMV,

It is a very clean bike or was when he bought it from member mickeyg.
I do not know the current owner, but it is freddie's autograph.
But I would not want it on my bike either.

Depends on the buyer - some probably see boomerangs and think it adds to the value. I see silver 900FC/FD boomerangs on an 1100F and think the opposite.

The cheesy horns, polished covers (and carb bowls), 900C airbox covers and 750/900F ignition cover would deter me as well.

However, for those folks simply looking for an 1100F and not aware of, or concerned about originality it probably looks like a very clean bike Confused .
