search function does suck ass and is as useless as tits on a nun!!! Tried to search some info on Keystone carb kits. Typed in simple "keyster" and it gave me some real useless, unrelated shit. Retyped it again, and this time came up with "no matches" Want to find out if they're ok, or junk. Installed kits into some carbs, set up the floats and all and have trouble getting this thing to idle properly, and restart when hot! Used to before I installed the kits!

Did you make sure you seated the idle screw o-ring/washer in correctly....very easy to
mess this up no matter what kit you use.

I think the problem you are having with the search is that they are "keyster" not "keystone"

I used the O-Rings, float rubbers, and idle screws on my CBX carbs....but nothing else....
The needles are junk....the jets are the wrong size and float needles are garbage as well.

replace the Main needles with the stockers if you still have them....and buy new authentic Keihen
Float Needle valves from here: www.pjmotorsports.com

Make sure the idle screw are what i said...and you should be good to go.

agreed, keyster is junk and a last resort when nothing else is available.
I try and use OEM when possible ( most items should still be available)
But it's more money, but in the long run, what's worse? pulling the carbs off and apart again?
you could also look at
http://www.randakks.com/DOHC%20Four%20Page.htm#1
They come highly recommended.

I have two Randaak kit at home awaiting two sets of CBX carbs....I can say...they are
primo.
I got the float bowl drain screws as well as the petcock repair kits, air tees...etc....
This guy does not make junk....and you pay for it.....but Keyster kits are comparable in
price.

Of court, I seem to always be the odd man out, but I measured my Keyster components (as best I could) versus my standard CB1100RC parts and found them very dimensionally accurate. That includes the needles.

Thanks

these kits are in a KZ1300 6 banger. I know for a fact the inlet needles, and seats are shorter than stock, and the floats were adjusted big time to get the recommended fuel level back. They're coming out tomorrow, and the stockers going back in. Better work, 'cause Im ready to boot this fucker. What really pisses me off is, I got the bike up and running after years of storage a couple weeks ago. The bike was ridden out of here!!! A burnout mark I put on my driveway says it worked good...untill dumbass put his fuckin fingers in the carbs! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

The seals work.....you are talking to a man that has tuned and built 48IDF Weber carbs.....but anything that was not a seal was garbage.
That is all I have to say.

The search works fine if you just figure it out or research it instead of giving up and then ranting about it. It's a very common and useful tool in the hands of someone that has the patience and perseverance to learn how to use it. I've been using this exact same kind of search engine for years on many forums and other kinds of internet sites.

All those options on the search dialog page do something, and you need to actually push some of the other switch buttons on the page to use it. It doesn't work with the default settings, or at least it isn't giving you the results you want.

You usually want the results as "posts" for instance, not as "Topics", and I like to Return first: "all available" characters of posts. If you want to use more than one term in your search to include only results with all terms present, you need the "Search for all terms" switch on.

And it only will return exact matches of words you use. If something is not spelled correctly, it won't find it. And it only works with 3 or more contiguous characters as a keyword. Punctuation is usually interpreted as a space or a boolean character, if it applies. And some common words like "the" are ignored I think.

So I pulledthe carbs apart...again. Pulled the needle valve assemblies. They were a bit different in appearances, and the needle was hanging up on the retainer clips. One was not sealing well either. Out they went, and back in with the old, and re-set the floats. While blowing the passages on the carbs...again, I noticed some bubbling coming from around one of the main jet spacers. It was very snug. I pulled the jet out, and compared it to factory. It was a little longer, and the threaded portion of the jet, longer as well. The spacer was rough on the edges. Replaced all 6 back to original. Installed the carbs, and got the bike fired up. Runns close enough now that I can install the airbox...again, and proceed to fine tune. Obviously these keyster kits did not work in these carbs

Case in point.
Glad you got it sorted.
As jebby said, use the gaskets and get rid of the rest.
Use oem or the Randaaks stuff for best results.
dontcha just hate it doing things twice.

I have used keyster kits before without incident. But, all were coincidentallyin twins. They worked great. In this big 6 however, no such luck. The bike is back together now, and purring like a cheeta. Gotta love the sound of an uncorked 6 banger! Now why dont my truck sound that nasty?

I have too on old superhawks and 60's stuff. It's about the only thing available. seem to be ok most of the time. but on the CV carb's, they are just too temperamental. The KL kits are just as much trouble. Worked on an old yamaha 650/4 with CV's and they just didn't work either. Put the old float valves and needles back in and it was fine. go figure.

The taper is the problem....
