While I have had my motorcycle license since I was 14 (1984), I was not introduced to the CB bikes until about four years ago. My Dad gave me a working but rough 1982 CB750F. That is where my obsession began. After learning a lot about the bike, mostly through this site, I decided I want to put an 1100 motor in my bike.

The only "original" parts my Dad asked me to use in the build is the V/H exhaust and the Progressive Shocks that he put on the bike while he owned it. Thanks to a lead from Grumpy32, I scored a CB1100F donor bike with swingarm, front forks, and wheels included. I plan on using them in my build also. The motor will require a rebuild, so I will put in the 1123 kit. I plan on using the CB750F case so I can stick with a solid mount as well as keep more of the original parts on the bike.

My previous mechanical experience is limited to component replacement. While I completely restored a old Jeep a few years ago, I didn't dig into the transmission or engine. I bought rebuilt ones and installed them myself. I tell you this to let you know there will be A LOT of questions along the way. I plan on researching what is right every step of the way. The search function does not acknowledge any word of less than three characters, so looking for threads on previous such builds is difficult. The reasons listed above led to the subject of the thread. I have included pics of the two bikes just as a starting point of reference.

I will post pics of progress along the way. ANY input will be GREATLY appreciated. Wish me luck.

Great to see another one restored.
What is all the grime on the one in truck bed? Discovered in a chicken coop?

The grim is several years of Florida tree pollen from what I can tell. It scrubs off with a little ( a lot ) of elbow grease. The guy I got it from had a real nice cb900f.

A soldier, friend, and riding buddy of five years committed suicide on Friday. This is no longer the "Long Slow 7/11 Build". This is now the one year tribute bike build with a memorial ride with friends in his honor ln the one year anniversary. Rest In Peace my Brother.
