Dan, I know what oil brand to use always generates a lot of posts, but try switching to Castrol 4T. Its available at any good auto store (Advanced Auto, PepBoys, etc.). Its available in 4 quart containers as well. I've used Castrol oil for 35+ years and love the stuff.

I know, a kitten just died!

They're sticky because your bike is now so much slower. Razz Sorry, I had to. (from a fellow pod runner Wink )

My son just did an oil change on his Ford Ranger and when I asked how much for oil and filter he said $58.00. I didnt believe him but he runs the extended life mobil because he drives a lot. Stuff hasnt gotten very expensive.

I'll run Castrol in a street bike without question. I will however never put it in any of my MX bikes ever again. A few weeks ago I did an oil change on my 450. I do it about every 3 hours of run time. I only had Castrol on the shelf, so figured what the hell. I put the 1.3 litres in, and fired the bike up. Let it run on idle speed only for 2 min. Shut it off, and let it sit for 3 min to allow the oil to settle before checking the level via the inspection weep hole. The oil that came out of the inspection hole was full of air! I drained it immediatly, and did not ride that day. Even 10 minutes after I drained the fresh oil,it still had air in it while sitting in the drain pan. I've ran Rotella, and never had this happen. I now run Castrol Hypuron, and this does not happen, and I find when I drain the oil after 3 hours it appears to be in better shape than the Rotella.

Don't know if 4T is rated for MX. Its labeled for street use.

A friend of mine was a service manager for a big MC dealer. The dealership used Castrol oil because it came in 55 gal drums. Anyway they had a warranty failure on an ATV that blew out the sight glass. Of course the obvious what's the matter with you didn't you know it had no oil?

So they set up another one and it was outside warming up while he was looking out at it before the test ride and saw the oil sight glass blow out across the parking lot. Needless to say next day was get this crap out of here and returned the un opened drums. Next oil was Yamalube and the code on the drums came back as Valvoline. Castrol foams because of the high detergent content.

I've never raced MX before only street riding. Always used Castrol w/o any issues. Whether it was Honda or Harley it didn't matter. To each his own.
