Anyone in the Detroit area have a silver "F"? I have been going round and round with my painter/his paint supplier, trying to come up with a cross reference for the old Pleiades Silver Metallic paint that was used on these bikes. I am hoping that someone in the area has a silver body panel - (side cover/tail cowl/fender) preferable, that I could borrow for a couple of hours, so that it can be color scanned and matched by the local Dupont distributor. A twelve pack of you favorite beverage is what I am offering in exchange for your trouble. I will meet you at your convenience, and return the piece after having it scanned.
ANY TAKERS?
PM or email me. I am in the NE burbs, but can travel.
Thanks, |

The only guy I know with a silver one is Motnick, but he went old gold wing, since the email notification isn't working, not sure how to get ahold of him |

I have a silver 750 with an NOS tank from a 900. My painter was able to match it perfectly for the side covers, tail, and fender. I still have the can of paint that he used. Maybe the computer printed label can help? If not I can get you in touch with him. He owns a collision shop in Roseville.
Here's a pic:

The original Pleides Silver "NH104M" (ColorRite SKU #2015) is hard to come by.
I wanted to keep the original silver also, but ended up using "NH700M, Alabaster Silver from 2007 Honda (car)".
It is a very nice match, but the metallic is finer / not as big as the original Pleides Silver.

STEVEG: Thanks for the tip. I know the Alabaster Silver is still a valid Dupont Code. If all else fails, I will go that route.
PAULJ: That may well be of some help, especially if it happens to be a Dupont paint. My painter is in Fraser, but he is working with Automotive Color Supply in Roseville (Dupont distributor). If you can find a paint code/type on the can, that may be a great solution. Feel free to PM or email me if you happen across it.
Thanks again! |

Delling,
I had a pint of NH104M mixed at my local PPG shop (Colours in Binghamton).
I am looking at the can right now. It lists a 'brand code' of 37915'. If this is a PPG number, possibly you can do something with that.
I have no idea if the paint I used to do my bodywork matches the Honda original. I do know that it looks super and the 'flake' is on the large side.

Hello Chris (delling3):
Sounds like you are getting plenty of help here. But is that is not enough there is Scott (Scottfish) in Bloomfield Township that has a silver 900F. You could send him a PM.

I found the left over paint. It is PPG. Here is a scan of the label. If you need a better view, pm me your email and I'll send you the scan file. It's very legible when blown up.

I don't know if you have carquest shops in the States, but I just asked them to make some NH104M. I would imagine any auto paint store could do that. |

CB1234: Yes, I have that paint code. I have provided it to no less than 3 different automotive paint supply houses, and none could cross reference it. Evidently it is too old, and has been purged from the computer systems.
restedman: Thanks for the info. I think that with the info from several folks that I have enough info to go on. I didn't realize it at the time, but most paint shops are very brand loyal - mainly due to the various reducers/primers etc., which they use (purchase) in bulk, and concerns of incompatability between the various systems. Since my guy is a "dupont" guy, I am not sure a House of Colors paint code would be helpful, so please don't go to the effort.
Many thanks to all who offered assistance on this! |
