Well...its been a good run...but its time to clear out everything...
So I have now officially sold both my F's and ALL of my spare parts and spare engines...
Well not "sold" but "traded"...
Both old F's and all my stock for 2X CBR125R's...one black one red..
Might need to start my own race team now..
Man this is a sad sad day....but kind of exciting at the same time..
I kept some of the rarest bits, just to have around for a while though...to reminisce.. |

Ya...I know...but since I have the K1200S, both the old gals were getting neglected.
That and I need to get the wife riding so I can get another K (or maybe a R) She didnt want to ride the 900 and wanted something smaller to learn on..
AND I need the room in my garage...
I fixed up the 1100F thinking I could get $3000 for it but all they would offer was $2000..(and MAN it looks sweet with those nice 900 pipes on it)
So I figured WTF am I keeping this around for?
Clear out the garage....!!!
But by the sounds of it they are both going into the bike shop owners collection..(so that's good)
I'm sure there will be another F in my future...I know way too much about them not to be involved in some way...
But I am totally bummed....sigh...it had to be done... |

We'll all be at that point someday - can't keep them forever.
Don't be a stranger though! |

you'll be sooRRRRRyyyyy. and then you'll begin to sweat at nights and have dreams of neverending winding roads through tree coverd backroads and open meadows, flying on you old F, where cops are frobidden, your hands will shake AND THEN you'll call me with a shakey voice "G........I need a F.... can you line me up with something........soon?" and I'll say " I knew you couldn't quit. I got just the thing to cure your problem!!" LOL Like cigaretts. I've quit lotsa times. |

The same reason we are not riding old Triumph's BSA's and Norton's. The DOHC line was decent, took too long for Honda to make the 1100 though.
My oldest son bought a used '02 GSXR Suzuki from the Honda dealer. I saw it said he should go look at it. This was like '04. From that time he kept saying that I should try a newer bike and if I did would not look at the old ones. I could not really ride that bike to even try it since the tailsection and seat were too tall.
Over the years he bought an '08 Hayabusa, then traded a car for an '02 ZX9 Kawasaki followed quickly by an '02 ZRX Kawasaki. Looked for the ZRX for a time, settled on the ZX9 then the ZRX came up so bought that also. These Kawasakis are not as good as the Suzuki, even same year fuel injected vs carbureted. The Hayabusa is a very fast freight train.
So he was trying to find a nice bike for my other son when the sale on '08 CBR 1000 RR came up. I figured a nice new $11,500 bike for $7245 was a gift,so got one for me as well.
Well the one ride and not one look at the 1200cc race engine sitting on the stand to install the 1-2-3 auto or anything else to do with them. Started selling stuff and still am till the garages are empty. |

Sorry I did not understand the last line of your post.
As newer bikes go ............ do you have any suggestions for a mid 2000 naked/standard bike ..... a ride to work everyday bike? |

When a new bike is around 400#,makes 150+ Hp covers a lot of sins. There is a version of this bike written up in a bike magazine where they made a naked bike out of it.
Taller bars,no fairing,etc.
Billy rode that GSXR 20,000 miles back and forth 30+ miles to work. Now is basically a foreman so driving a company truck but wishes for the bike to avoid the traffic.
In my case am 63 and the new stuff is not that comfortable,BUT my '06 Harley Superglide is.
Depends on what you want. Ride these old DOHC bikes for what they are. Just forget spending the bucks to try and make them fast,it is a money looser and frustrating that they really don't get faster.
As I said I have a fortune in anyone of those race engines to get 150 HP. Now you can get a new bike that starts right up,with a warranty, through a muffler that makes 150 HP and is light as the race stuff with no street equipment on it. Then they make go faster than this stuff from there. |

Today was the day I traded everything in.
This is the spares, and collected parts all boxed up
Head to Head...
The reason for the clear out...
The two Ol' Gals together, perhaps for the last time..
He didnt have them ready for me, but here is the new pair...Red and Black again too...They have some cool company right now too...
And this is me, after dropping them off, they are officaialy not mine anymore...
The biggest pouty lip I could make...

Wow, bummer, Randy!
I know I've thought about getting rid of a few after getting the Wing, but still can't bring myself to do it. Maybe the Interceptor, if I got the right amount of coin, but the 1100F and the OMT are going no where as of yet, even though I ain't got room to even fart in my garage.
Sorry again to hear you had to part with the the F's, but if you're like me with my Wing, that Beemer will keep your blood pumping just fine, brother!! |

You let the 1100 go for $2000.00 without asking here first. Bad bad boy. |

Nope, "The old motorcycle shop" has them...
They are just off of Ogden Road.
