Blue 1100F Project

Drove to Wilkes Barre, PA earlier today to pickup my next project;

The seller handed me a big envelope full of brochures and magazines..

And yes, before anyone says it - PODS! Laughing

He had it on Ebay with a buy it now of 1499 and said if it didn't sell he was going to restore it. I emailed for pictures of the seat and he told me the reserve was 1495. You must have been the high bidder. Smile

Looks like an inspection sticker. In another thread Peter indicated that vehicles are subjected to inspections in his state when he said that chainguards are required to pass inspection.

In 1983 I had that CB1100F brochure on my bedroom wall. The backside of it was a picture of Mike Baldwin on the factory Superbike bending it through a turn. I cut it in half down the seam and tacked them both on the wall.

I have to ask... have you ridden up and down the street with the pods? I bought mine with em and she runs fantastic as is. I wouldnt mess with it for nothing.

The CV's have supposedly been jetted for the pods - but who knows. I have a spare set of CR33's that are destined for it anyway. Plans? None really - probably strip it to the frame, powder-coat and reassemble. I have a set of Works Pro-racers, superbike bars, euro controls, braided lines and other goodies that she will get. The red wheels have to go, but I think I'll stick with stock 1100F rims - no CBR type swaps*.

Color-wise I'd like to keep it blue, which is a shame as I have a complete spare set of red stuff. The V&H 4-1 has surface rust, but she came with a brand new Marving 4-1 chrome megaphone system. I've not taken it out of the wrapping to look at it but the header has the 4 pipes running flat under the oil pan (no big collector) so it should be a good pipe for ground clearance.

Couldn't resist changing the damper, fitting some rearsets and trying on some of the red stuff;

TR, this is just a preview. PTG is famous here for the quality of his work. Look in the Pictures section to see some examples. This bike will be stunning when complete, if history is any indication...

Big Crank arrived today - changed the oil and filter and put in a fresh set of plugs. After a couple of seconds of cranking she burst into life Very Happy

.

Runs great - no smoke, rattles or noises. She's even charging! Looking forward to tearing into this one.

Slow progress - controls, grips etc. are all done. Wiring harness re-wrapped and installed, oil cooler on. Decided to go with stock signals and wheels on this one. Got the rear wheel stripped and repainted, but it took a ton of time. Anyway - photos;

Peter,

A couple questions of you don't mind...

Repainting your wheels... did you mask the edges of the wheels and spokes or did you remove paint after applying? I have a set of 1100f wheels ready for paint myself.

Also... your rearsets... what are you doing for replacement rubbers (foot rests, gear shift linkage and gear shift pedal)? Is there a source for any of the rubber parts?
