Custom headers

I found a guy that is open to making custom headers for me at a reasonable price. I'll be working with him to try to duplicate a certain couple of racing headers built BITD. One will be called the KY and the other will be called the MV. This could take some time, but if successful, we should have the weld jigs ready to duplicate them fairly easily, just in case anyone else is interested. Probably won't be cheap, but the guy does great work.

If I'm successful I will certainly post a few pictures.

I'd be interested in an OMT replica.

Dimensions are important. Remember the results of those test's from back in the day that were recently posted.

No, just good pictures. Is your's for dry sump or wet sump?

It's a wet sump street pipe. I plan to use it on the Pit Bike but I won't need it for a couple of more months. I have pics of it at work and will post tomorrow.

I've never seen the MV street pipe installed before. Looks like it could use a slight modification for clearance? I like what the kerker K2 did by rolling over the collector so it was slightly trapizoid rather than square. This gave a good 1/2" more clearance. Maybe a slight modification to the MV similar to what Kerker did would be better. I think that would require a custom collector.

The KY pipe is going to be first. It has no cornering clearance problems at all, just speed bump problems!

What is the goal here? You want a particular pipe for "looks",oil filter access,cornering clearance,what?

I can send you my "spare" RPO Denco front section you wish. It will make the others look like crap since it was made for power. Bike would be sliding on the side to touch but must come off to change the oil filter. This is a diamond rotating collector full pyramid. The pyramid inside the collector is to minimze the collector volume.

Keep in mind,..the pictured pipe above is on a bike that has the front forks pulled down due to trailering tie downs. And not only that, the tires are in a track that is counter sunk to the trailers check-plate deck. No doubt there is a clearance issue,as is the case with most CB-F aftermarket exhaust systems, but the pictures do not tell the real story. I may be able to roll it out and take a better picture this week if time permits (there's never enough time lately).

I have the same pipe as CBXdog. Better cosmetics, but collector is flat spotted at bottom.
(bumps on banked tracks)

I bought it in '84 from OMT for a superbike build.

We need to get these re-made, so yeah, I am in....

I'd like to see that Denco pipe and the fancy pyramid collector, that just sounds like the bees knees to me. Do you think a spin on oil filter would clear that pipe Bill?

That would mean that a guy that is a mechanical genius would have to figure out how to post a picture.........It's been 8 years........

I know plenty of extremely smart guys who don't know which end of the mouse to hold. I also know one or two guys whom are computer savvy but suffer a big mouth.

That "smart" guy I was referring to was one of the early members of the site, which shows an early aptitude for the medium. Now consider his age, he was pretty much well ahead of the learning curve for PC forum use.

I had no idea how to do anything on a computer when I started here. A guy at a gas station told me there was a website that had bikes like mine on it. My kids showed me how to access this site. Everything I know about online activities including E-bay, came from the love of things "F" on the site.

Eight years later you can't figure out a digital camera, photobucket and [img] works?

If I can figure it out, so can he.

My "ball breaking" was intended to be a gentle shove toward posting some pictures that many here would appreciate. You have the audience here that would appreciate seeing some pictures of things that that same guy spent significant time and effort developing.

Where I come from, that what men do, break each others balls.
